- The delegate of the Government thanked the work of the State Security Forces and Bodies and the Military Emergency Unit, displaced from Valencia when the national emergency was decreed in the Region of Murcia
- “I want to thank and publicly acknowledge the exemplary behavior of citizens and their decisive contribution to the recovery of normality,” said
April 29 from 2025. The delegate of the Government, who on behalf of the Minister of the Interior assumed yesterday in the Region of Murcia the command of the emergency of national interest declared by the electric blackout, has valued the work of the Government of Spain to restore 100% of supply in our territory and guarantee citizen security in the meantime.
“From the first moment, the Government of Spain put all its services and resources to restore normality in the supply as soon as possible and guarantee in the meantime citizen security, anticipating a scenario in which, at night, the light had not yet recovered. That’s why the National Police and the Civil Guard doubled shifts and were patrolling the streets throughout the night to ensure public safety and, fortunately, everything was resolved without noteworthy incidents,” said Mariola Guevara.
The delegate of the Government has reported that, at the end of the night, after the Government of Spain assumed command of the emergency, 75 troops of the Military Emergency Unit traveled from Valencia to meet the needs that the regional government may have when requesting the activation of level 3 of the emergency. “It is the regional president who requested the declaration of national emergency, and therefore we had to activate the UME, put all available resources at the service of the Autonomous Community and ask them to transfer their needs, but they only asked for three generators for the 112 that finally they did not even have to use,” said Guevara.
The government delegate has reported that all state services, strategic infrastructure and critical facilities operate normally, as do rail or road transport services.
Guevara has particularly appreciated the work of Red Eléctrica Española and Iberdrola to restore supply throughout the country, a task of a magnitude that, after yesterday, has pointed out, “one cannot imagine”. His constant information on the evolution of the blackout, he added, “was very useful to anticipate and optimize resources and, of course, to inform and reassure the citizens, whom I want to highlight, thank and publicly acknowledge their exemplary behavior and their decisive contribution to the recovery of normality,” he concluded.
