November 22, 2024. The Government delegate today presided over the ceremony of handing over the Menina 2024 awards, in which she acknowledged the daily work and effort of entities and groups in the Region of Murcia in the universal fight for the elimination of violence against women.
“Your work encourages a universal movement that does not distinguish borders or societies to which you contribute decisively in your respective spheres of competence,” said Mariola Guevara addressing the representatives of the Feminist Assembly of the Region of Murcia, Murcia I Penitentiary Center, Provincial Directorate of the Public Service of State Employment and College of the Law of Lorca, recognized this year with the Menina 2024.
Guevara thanked the work of the recognized entities and groups and valued their commitment “to make visible the fight against this anomaly, against this social perversion and to contribute to turning your centers into safe spaces free of violence against women,” she said.
The Delegate has indicated that this fight is a shared responsibility and involves the whole of society. “Gender violence is also exercised passively if we ignore or relativize the problem, disregarding ourselves if it does not directly affect us with the flimsy excuse that it is a foreign or private matter,” she added.
The SEPE has been recognized for its adherence to the ‘Violeta Point’ campaign since its implementation in 2021, for promoting the training in ‘Gender Perspective’ of public service personnel and for its participation in the Days to Update Resources specialized in ‘Violence Against Women’ promoted every year by the Government Delegation. In addition, the recognition has taken into account their search for ways to resolve incidents and channel information in an agile way for better protection of victims and their daughters and sons, taking into account their situation of vulnerability.
La Menina to the Murcia Penitentiary Center has valued the implementation of the ‘Protocol of communication of urgent penitentiary movements’ for the direct transmission of penitentiary information to the Police Units that monitor cases; the full incorporation into the System of Integral Monitoring of Cases (‘VioGén System’) or the promotion of information and awareness actions to prevent new aggressions at a critical time of judicial proceedings.
The Colegio de la Abogacía de Lorca has highlighted the promotion of training and awareness activities in ‘Violence on Women’, promoting the perspective of comprehensive protection of lawyers and lawyers who are part of the Official Turn of ‘Violence on Women’, promoting protocols of interinstitutional coordination that make effective the right of victims to immediate legal assistance, prior to filing the complaint, promoting awareness and knowledge of other forms of violence on women and for their collaboration in the development of the ‘Violeta Point’ campaign.
Finally, the recognition of the Feminist Assembly of the Region of Murcia has taken into account its social commitment in the fight against gender violence in the Region of Murcia, giving voice and image to the victims, especially the most vulnerable, with the rallies convened on the first Tuesday of each month in the Plaza del Cardenal Belluga of Murcia. In addition, it has valued its actions to promote awareness of society as a whole by contributing to the isolation of aggressors, its work so that public institutions promote conditions and remove obstacles so that the fundamental rights of women, especially the most vulnerable, have the same protection as the fundamental rights of those who hold economic power.
