- All units have detents prepared to relieve their peers
November 6, 2024. The delegate of the Government has reported that more than 300 personnel of the Armed Forces, National Police and Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia are displaced in the areas most affected by DANA in the Valencian Community and Letur carrying out tasks of search for missing persons, demolition, aid for recovery or support and assistance to the most affected population.
“The logistical and human capacity and the training and specialization of all the units in the Region of Murcia allows their presence there, under the command of the Military Emergency Unit, to cover all possible tasks that an emergency of this nature requires, such as the search for missing persons, distribution of groceries, water bilge, mud cleaning, decommissioning or cleaning of channels,” said Mariola Guevara.
The displaced troops, in addition to the agents Civil Guard and National Police, belong to the Spanish Navy, Spanish Army (Anti-Aircraft Regiment No. 73 and Infantry Regiment 'Zaragoza' No. 5), and Spanish Air Force (Alcantarilla Air Base and General Air Academy of San Javier).
“In addition to all these material and human resources, it must be considered that 16 forensic experts from the Institute of Legal Medicine of the Region of Murcia traveled from the first moment to the Valencian Community for the identification of the deceased,” added Guevara.
The delegate of the Government has highlighted the commitment of all these public servants and has valued the measures adopted by the Council of Ministers, which yesterday approved a first package of measures with a total cost of 10.6 billion euros destined to help the homes, companies and municipalities of the 75 Valencian, Castilian, Manchego and Andalusian municipalities hit by the DANA.
