October 11, 2024. The delegate of the Government this morning assessed the structuring nature of the Civil Guard and the importance of its deployment in the less populated areas of the Region of Murcia, which contributes to respond to the difficulties of rural areas and areas in demographic decline.
“The Government of Spain has approved a specific Plan of Action of the Civil Guard of “Security in the face of the Demographic Challenge”, which makes it the first department to undertake an initiative of this kind,” he said in his speech during the commemorative act of the Virgen del Pilar, patron of the institution, which he has presided over together with Francisco Pulido, Colonel Chief of the 5th Zone of the Civil Guard.
Mariola Guevara has indicated that with the recent incorporation of 89 new student guards, her presence in territorial units of citizen security will be prioritized, making special impact in Spain of the demographic challenge.
“They are guards who come from all corners of Spain and who assume with honor and enthusiasm the immediate commitment to serve in some of the less populated localities of the Region, giving meaning to the structuring character of the Benemérita and the commitment of the Government of Spain to involve the institution in its plan of 130 measures against the demographic challenge,” he added.
Guevara has highlighted that the incorporation of these agents represents a significant improvement in coverage in the Region of Murcia, which reaches 95.87% on average.
The delegate of the Government has assured that the evolution, growth and modernization of the Civil Guard have made it an indisputable protagonist of our own history. “And that is why the Civil Guard is Spain itself, a mirror and a thermometer of its desires and problems, of its nuances and sensitivities, an open, tolerant, democratic and professionalized space in which more and more people without ties or family tradition in the body decide to develop their professional careers and channel their vocation of public service,” he said.
For his part, Colonel Francisco Pulido has indicated that the feast of the patron saint of the Corps is the most significant event “for all of us who wear this uniform, both from a corporate and institutional point of view”.
The colonel has expressed the need to persevere in the optimization of the service potential available in the Region, both in the general prevention of citizen security and in the police performance of the functional specialties of the Civil Guard. “Well, although what does not happen has no statistics, we must not forget that, if sometimes it does not happen, it is simply thanks to the preventive services carried out by the Civil Guard, and that these require a considerable effort of personnel and means to sustain them,” he concluded.
