- The Government delegate has inaugurated an exhibition that can be visited in the Palace of the Rafts
- This is an initiative of the AJVA association selected and subsidized by the Ministry of Culture
September 19, 2024. The Government delegate, Mariola Guevara, opened this morning the exhibition "A millennial irrigation for a future SOStenible", organized by the AJVA Association in a project selected and subsidized by the Ministry of Culture in its program for the safeguarding of the intangible cultural heritage.
“For the Ministry of Culture the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage is very important, and that is why it has recognized such an important project as this of the AJVA Association, which brings together photographs, plans, maps and invaluable information about our traditional irrigation and to which the Government Delegation has also contributed through our National Geographic Institute. The main objective is to disseminate the traditional irrigation system and the hydraulic network of our orchard, which is an important part of that intangible cultural heritage that we are obliged to preserve,” said Guevara.
The president of AJVA, Pedro Fernández, has indicated that printed production, both local and national, and that coming from other countries offers information and historical images of our region, some not shown in Murcia until now.
“We want to add value and thank the Ministry of Culture in which we were selected to carry out this HMuln project (Huerta de Murcia Inmaterial), with which we carry out didactic, informative, promotional and research activities of our heritage, such as this show in which we also value the work of the Administration as curator of a millennial legacy to know our garden, our landscape and be able to preserve it in a climate emergency situation such as the one we are in,” added Fernández.
The exhibition can be visited in the Promotion Area of the Government Delegation, located in the Plaza de las Balsas, from Monday to Friday from 9 to 14 hours.
