July 31, 2024. At 15 hours begins the special traffic device designed by the DGT on the occasion of August 1st, which foresees about 170,000 trips on the roads of the Region of Murcia, which represents 7.2% of the total vehicle movements, 2,338,881, planned for this month of August.
This device constitutes the second of the four major phases of Operation Summer 2024, which began on June 28 and will end on September 1. “As happened last summer, during the first phase of the Summer Special Operation, which took place from June 28 to July 1, no fatal accidents were recorded, although it is regrettable that since July 3, and until July 31, there have been eight deaths on our roads, which is four more than those recorded between July 1 and 30 of last year,” explains Virginia Jerez, Provincial Traffic Chief.
During the two days that this special operation lasts, the largest concentration of vehicles will take place today between 15 and 21 hours and on Thursday 1 between 10 and 21 hours, so the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard will deploy 200 that will establish extraordinary services of control, regulation and surveillance.
The Civil Guard will be supported by the Levante Traffic Management Center (CGTL) and the Variable Message Panels available on our main roads. In addition, there will be five fixed and section speed control points, with six mobile radar units and air support (helicopters and drones) that could be programmed by the CGTV.
