Among them, 13,705 people have requested to vote by mail.
“On this occasion we have 1,728 tables, with 5,184 members, distributed in 577 polling stations, and the overall budget of this electoral process in the Region of Murcia amounts to 1,362,954 euros, 140,938 euros more than in the Generals of July 2023.
“I would like to remind you that we are in the critical phase of the security plan for the electoral process, and therefore we are going to deploy 2,076 agents among the National Police, Civil Guard and Local Police to ensure the security of the electoral process in a day in which we have established a set of security and protection measures that allow and guarantee that the fundamental right to political participation can be exercised in optimal conditions of freedom and security and protected from those threats aimed at disrupting its normal development,” explained Guevara.
Murcia, with 347,975, Cartagena, with 162,504, Lorca, with 67,817, Molina de Segura, with 55,053, and Alcantarilla, with 31,946, are the localities with the highest number of voters. Ojós, with 511, and Ulea, with 735, are the municipalities with the least citizens with the right to vote.
Electoral Process Monitoring and Assistance Center
The Government delegate has valued the work, effort and dedication of all the staff of the Government Delegation and the Electoral Census Office.
“It has been a long and rigorous work that culminates in the constitution, on the same Sunday, of the Center for Attention and Follow-up of the Electoral Process, with more than ten people dedicated to resolving any type of incident that may happen during the day and that joins the representatives of the administration, responsible, among other functions, for transferring the results of the tables for their final count,” added Guevara.
Among the most significant developments, the Government delegate has highlighted the deployment of a special signage in the electoral colleges of the city of Murcia to facilitate cognitive accessibility.
“It is a project resulting from the agreement between the Ministry of the Interior and Full Inclusion Spain that will allow, through seven pictograms, to facilitate the right and the task of voting to people with intellectual disabilities. As this is a pilot project, at the moment it is only going to be carried out in the autonomous capitals and autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla”, concluded the delegate of the Government.
Accessible voting procedure
The accessible voting procedure provides applicants at the polling station on election day with a voting briefcase that includes standardized ballot papers and envelopes (i.e. envelopes and ballot papers identical to those used by other voters) and additional documentation in Braille, (explanatory guide in Braille, stickers in Braille and ink identifying content) that allows the visually impaired voter to identify the desired voting option with full autonomy and with the guarantee of the secrecy of the vote.
On this occasion, twenty-three people have requested the accessible voting kit, eleven in Murcia, three in Cartagena and one in the towns of Alcantarilla, Beniel, Bullas, Ceutí, Jumilla, San Pedro del Pinatar, Totana, La Unión and Yecla.
Red Cross and 061
As usual on each election day, the Red Cross will have 100 volunteers and will have a presence in fourteen municipalities with medical units and vehicles adapted to transfer to the polling stations people with reduced mobility who need transport. In case of any eventuality, it has a telephone number throughout the election day, 968 22 22 22, and an email: centro.coordinacion@cruzroja.es
