The Delegate of the Government in Melilla, Sabrina Moh, has held a working meeting with the heads of the National Police and the Civil Guard to analyze and take stock of the different security devices developed in recent months.
The meeting was attended by the acting Superior Chief of Police, José Ángel Sanz, and the Secretary General of the Headquarters, Isidoro González; as well as the Colonel Chief of the Command of the Civil Guard, Jesús Rueda, and Lieutenant Colonel Arturo Ortega.
Among the outstanding operations is the ‘Playa Segura’ plan, developed from June to September in coordination between the State Security Forces and Bodies (FyCSE) and the Local Police to strengthen security on the city’s beaches.
The fair device, in which the Security Forces and Corps have intervened, has also been evaluated: 411 officers of the National Police, 260 of the Civil Guard, whose main objective is to ensure the good development of the patron saint’s festivities from a triple perspective:
- Ensure the normal functioning of acts and public order, especially in those involving a large number of people in order to guarantee security.
- Adapt the police activity to be able to enhance our Prevention, Protection and Response capacities.
- Prevention and reaction to the carrying out of different types of criminal acts.
All this, focused both within the fairgrounds, and in spaces such as Puerto Noray, also taking into account the whole city in terms of security.
Likewise, an assessment has been made of Operation Feriante, aimed at preventing attempts at irregular passage to the peninsula hidden in attractions or vehicles, which has resulted in the location of 31 migrants hidden in attractions and vehicles.
Thanks to the FyCSE
In this regard, Moh has expressed its appreciation for the joint work and has highlighted that these devices have been developed in parallel to the final phase of Operation Strait Pass (OPE), which has meant an additional effort at border, port and airport. “All the people involved have demonstrated commitment and professionalism so that Melilla enjoys a safe party and a smooth start to the course,” he said.
It has also conveyed to the National Police and Civil Guard officials the gratitude for the work and commitment, especially in this type of device that requires greater effort, so that they can extend it to all the personnel, both of the Superior Police Headquarters and of the Civil Guard Command.
Finally, Moh has announced that this Friday, September 19, the meeting of the Territorial Coordination Committee of the OPE, with all the agents involved, will be held at the headquarters of the Government Delegation to close the balance of OPE 2025 and begin the preparation of the edition of 2026.
