The Multipurpose Service Center for Elderly People of the Imserso in Melilla, popularly known as the Senior Citizens’ Residence, has today kicked off its Fair week with a program full of activities designed for residents, users, family and workers, within the framework of the city’s patron saint’s festivities.
The Delegate of the Government in Melilla, Sabrina Moh, together with the Territorial Director of the Imserso, Verónica Aznar, and the Director of the Center, Ibrahim Molina, has been in charge of inaugurating the festivities and cutting the ribbon, starting a few days full of activity in the Residence.
The head of the Government Delegation pointed out that “the Fair is also one of our elders, and we want them to live it with the same enthusiasm as the rest of the city”. In that sense, he thanked all the staff of the center “for their effort, professionalism and affection so that every detail is taken care of and our elders enjoy these holidays”.
Moh added that, in addition to participating in some activities at the fair, users will be able to enjoy the programming within the center itself, “so that they feel and live the Fair also at home.” He has also conveyed his gratitude to all the artists and groups who, altruistically, join each year to make this celebration more special.
A festive agenda for all tastes
For her part, the Territorial Director of Imserso, Verónica Aznar, has highlighted that the activities programmed, together with those of the Autonomous City, seek to “create an atmosphere of joy, coexistence and active participation of our elders”.
The programming has started today with the performance of the School of Flamenco and a picoteo ferial, and will continue this afternoon with the Misa Asperera. Tomorrow Tuesday will be the competition of ‘Miss and Mister Fair 2025’ and the performance of the Ballet of Colors, while in the evening the adults will enjoy a fair dinner at the Hotel Melilla Puerto.
As Aznar has explained, on Wednesday they will go to the fairgrounds to taste tapas, and on Thursday it will be the turn of a Chorus Sprinkler, which will enliven the afternoon to the rhythm of sevillanas and rumbas. Finally, on Friday a special bingo will take place and the golden brooch will be put on a week full of activities on the occasion of the patron saint’s parties, all accompanied by picoteo with fair flavor.
More participation every year
The Director of the Center, Ibrahim Molina, has highlighted the participatory nature of this programming: “They are initiatives that come from the residents themselves, family members and workers, and every year we see how the involvement increases and the quality of the activities improves.”
Molina stressed that the objective is “to open the center to the social life of Melilla, so that our elders do not disassociate themselves from the city and live these festivities as great protagonists of them”.
