The Delegate of the Government in Melilla, Sabrina Moh, has very positively valued the completion of the implementation of the new University Hospital of Melilla (HUME), a historical milestone for the health of the city that has been completed in less than six months since its inauguration and implementation last June.
“With an investment of more than 150 million euros, Melilla already has a modern hospital, leading and at the forefront of the national health system, equipped with advanced technology and prepared to offer the highest quality health care to citizens,” he said.
“The completion of the new University Hospital is a collective success of the whole of Melilla,” said the head of the Government Delegation, who recalled that “with the implementation of the entire hospital we have completed a long road in which the work of many people has been essential.” Moh has had words of thanks for all the people who, “with your commitment, commitment and dedication you have made it possible”.
The process of transferring 100% of the services from the old Regional Hospital to HUME was completed this Tuesday, developing with absolute normality, without relevant incidents and guaranteeing safety and continuity of care at all times, according to the planning established by the National Institute of Health Management (INGESA).
During the day of the 16th of this month, more than 75 patients were transferred between both hospital centers in an operation designed and coordinated for months, which prioritized the care of patients with greater clinical complexity. The transfer included three neonatal patients and three intensive care patients, developing in an orderly and efficient manner.
More than 300 professionals
The Government Delegate has praised the operational plan, which yielded excellent results, and which has counted on the participation of more than 300 professionals, in a joint device of the Emergency Service 061, Red Cross, Local Police, mobility agents and Civil Protection services, which coordinated traffic to facilitate the movement of ambulances.
To ensure the success of the operation, INGESA reinforced the Health Area with the incorporation of more than 124 new professionals, in addition to mobilizing human and technical resources from different services. Medical and nursing teams, health technicians, management, logistics and administration personnel, along with emergency and security services, participated in the device.
Sabrina Moh wanted to expressly thank the work and the involvement of all the professionals and entities involved, stressing that “this new hospital not only improves the care capacity of Melilla, but represents a decisive advance in the quality, safety and humanization of health care”.
