The Government Delegation in Melilla has held this afternoon its first official act of lighting Christmas lights, culminating the day dedicated to Christmas Inclusive, an initiative that unites the work of Aspanies Full Inclusion Melilla with that of the CIFP Reina Victoria Eugenia to build a Christmas decoration created and assembled by user of the entity and students of the center including people with disabilities.
The head of the Government Delegation, Sabrina Moh, thanked the work of the media professionals for spreading “this very special day for us, in this lighting, in this lighting of the Government Delegation that is done for the first time”.
The highest representative of the Government of Spain in the city recalled that the date chosen is not accidental, “we wanted to do it coinciding with World Disability Day. And we wanted to call this year the ‘Inclusive Christmas’ of Government Delegation”.
Thus, he explained that “in addition to doing as in previous years - the interior decoration at the hands of Aspanies Full Inclusion - we wanted to take another step and do an inclusive activity in which Professional Training cycles such as Bakery and Pastry, with students with disabilities, and other training cycles such as Electricity or Image and Sound participate”.
Recognition plates
The Delegate has expressed her thanks to both Aspanies and the Vocational Training Centre. “To Aspanies Full Inclusion, who has been with us since 2018, but I also have words of thanks for the CIFP Reina Victoria Eugenia for their collaboration in an altruistic way,” he said.
After the lighting, two commemorative plaques have been delivered, one to Aspanies Full Inclusion and another to the CIFP Reina Victoria Eugenia, in recognition of the work carried out during these weeks that has allowed to create a more inclusive, creative and participatory Christmas.
He also acknowledged the involvement of the staff of the Delegation, especially the maintenance staff, “who have been here during these days accompanying all the students to be able to prepare this activity”.
The head of the Government Delegation highlighted what she had experienced this morning at the government headquarters, where a breakfast prepared by the students of the Bakery and Pastry Cycle was shared. “This morning we enjoyed a tasting menu at the hands of the Bakery and Pastry training cycle, which with such great affection they have prepared all the products manually,” he recalled.
Working on full inclusion all year round
In the framework of the International Day of People with Disabilities, the Delegate wanted to go beyond the symbolic act, “we do not want it only to remain in activities of this type, but you know that we are going to continue working for full inclusion day by day”.
In this regard, it has announced that next Tuesday a coordination meeting has been organized with the SEPE, Imserso and Aspanies Full Inclusion so that the employment plans, which have 2% for people with intellectual disabilities and 5% for other disabilities, continue to be carried out in the best possible way.”
“Today, December 3, we remain committed to inclusion and we will continue to put all the necessary tools to continue moving forward in the city of Melilla,” he concluded.
