“Male violence is not only the problem of the victim, but a problem that we have as a society because 50 stabs is not love, it is not wanting a person. 50 stabbed is to kill someone and a murder cannot be justified under any circumstances.”
The Government Delegation today welcomed a minute’s silence in condemnation of the murders of 38-year-old Silvia Mariuxi in Barcelona on 13 November and 60-year-old María del Pilar on 15 November 2025, and reiterated its heartfelt condolences to her family and friends.
The head of the delegation, Sabrina Moh, who called for “to continue working in a coordinated and united manner”, stressed that “we need to continue to send clear and forceful messages against male violence to the citizens”.
The Delegate recalled the figures of male violence, “so far this year, 38 women have been killed and 20 children have been orphaned. Since 2003, 1,333 women have been murdered in our country due to male violence; 65 minors have been killed since 2013 and 489 have been orphaned,” he said.
The highest representative of the Government of Spain in the city has stressed that “behind these figures there are broken families, truncated lives and a drama against which we have to continue fighting”, and has insisted on the importance of involving the whole society, “we must be aware, we must prevent and we must work together, because it is not only a problem of the victim, it is a problem that we have as a society”.
“Despite the negationist approaches to male violence, we are going to persevere and we are going to continue moving towards a more just, egalitarian society and free of male violence,” he said.
