The Head of the Coordination Unit Against Violence against Women of the Government Delegation in Melilla, Laura Segura Sarompas, has held a working meeting with representatives of Doctors of the World with the aim of strengthening interinstitutional cooperation and joint strategies for attention and prevention of gender violence.
The meeting was attended by Ana Durán, director of Autonomic Programs; Patricia Ruiz, responsible for the Migration Program; and Zineb Emrane, psychosocial technique of the entity.
During the meeting, they reviewed the existing lines of collaboration and agreed to strengthen the comprehensive care of women in situations of vulnerability, both victims of gender violence and other forms of violence.
Likewise, the focus has been placed on the training and training of professionals in the health and educational fields, in order to improve the detection, referral and intervention in cases of special complexity, as well as on raising awareness on socio-health issues such as human trafficking, gender violence or forced marriages.
“Institutional coordination is key to providing an effective, humane and specialized response to the women who need it most,” said Segura, stressing the importance of continuing to build collaborative networks with third sector entities such as Médecins du Monde, whose work she considers “fundamental to ensuring close, comprehensive and human rights perspective care.”
