The Government Delegation today welcomed a minute’s silence in condemnation of the gender-based violence killings of Verónica, 46, in Badajoz on October 14; of Yoanna, 53, in Guipúzcoa on October 15; and of Martha, 21, in Madrid on October 20.
So far this year, 32 women have been murdered in 2025 by their partner or ex-partner and 17 children have been orphaned. Since 2003, 1,327 women have been killed by gender violence and since 2013, 65 boys and girls have been killed by gender violence against their mothers and 486 girls and boys have been orphaned by gender violence in Spain.
“We want to condemn these three terrible murders that add to that of so many murdered women and convey our heartfelt condolences and all our affection to the loved ones of these three new victims,” said the head of the Government Delegation, who has shown “our firm commitment to the eradication of male violence.”
In this regard, he pointed out that, as every year on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women will be commemorated, and with this reason activities will be developed focused on prevention, sensitization and awareness of citizens “so that we take into account that this is not a problem of the victim but of society, which requires policies of equality, firmness and unity to eradicate male violence.”
From the Ministry of Equality, through the Government Delegation against Gender Violence, it is recalled that telephone 016 and the other services of attention and advice are available 24 hours a day, every day of the year, and are accessible to all people.
Also, in an emergency situation you can call 112 or the emergency telephones of the National Police (091) and the Civil Guard (062). In case it is not possible to make a call and in a situation of danger, you can use the ALERTCOPS application, from which an alert signal will be sent to the police with geolocation.
These means of assistance can be used both by victims and by anyone who knows or suspects a situation of gender violence.
