The Multipurpose Senior Services Center, popularly known as the Senior Citizens’ Residence, held this lunchtime an endearing event on the occasion of the International Day of Senior Citizens 2025, which every October 1st recalls the importance of recognizing our seniors.
The event, chaired by the Delegate of the Government in Melilla, Sabrina Moh; the territorial director of the Imserso, Verónica Aznar; and the managing director of the Center, Ibrahim Molina, has served to pay tribute to residents and workers who stand out for their trajectory and participation in the life of the Residence.
In this context, a special mention has been made to Lucinda Infante and Miguel Núñez, older residents, in a recognition that has been repeated in recent years. The most participative residents have also been distinguished in the activities of the Center, including a posthumous memory of Francisco ‘Paco’ Aguilar and Salvadora Pérez García. Likewise, Concepción Elisa Navas and Miguel García Hernández have received recognition for being the oldest residents.
The event has also included a tribute to the staff: Ana María Martínez has received a commemorative plaque for her 25 years of service at the Residence, and the work of 061 and the team of Ambulances, who for a time developed their activity on one of the wings of the Center, has been recognized.
In addition, the work of Dr. Omar Haouari, for all his years at the head of the Territorial Directorate of Ingesa and the collaboration that he has always maintained with the Residence of Senior Citizens, has been recognized.
The day was accompanied by the music of the violinist Nuria Torrellas, who performed pieces such as All of me or Imagine, and by the words of Nieves, president of the Board of Government of the Residence, who gave voice to the collective gratitude towards those who make the day to day of the Center possible.
