The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, has conveyed her gratitude to Dr. Omar Haouari for the dedication, professionalism and dedication he has had during the last seven years at the head of the Territorial Direction of the National Institute of Health Management (INGESA) in Melilla.
The hitherto head of the Ingesa in our city has presented his resignation for family reasons and from next September 1 he rejoins his place as a specialist doctor in Nephrology.
Haouari has acknowledged that, despite being a very considered decision, it has not been easy to take since it means closing a very important stage of his professional life. In any case, he has made it clear that he does so with the peace of mind of knowing that he has worked honestly and always thinking about what is best for public health and for the citizens of Melilla.
Omar Haouari thanked the Ministry of Health, INGESA and the Government Delegation in Melilla for the trust they have placed in him, as well as for the collaboration and joint work that has taken place at all times. “Without that collaboration and support, it would have been impossible to face the challenges and challenges that have marked these years,” he said.
He has also had words of gratitude for the entire team of the Territorial Directorate, with whom he has shared “responsibilities, efforts, illusions and not few difficulties”. “His professionalism, commitment and closeness have been a fundamental pillar so that we could carry out large-scale projects”, he said, while extending this recognition to each and every one of the professionals who are part of the INGESA in Melilla. “They are the real engine of our public health, who with their daily work make it possible for citizens to receive dignified, close and quality health care,” he said.
More infrastructures and professionals
The one who has been Territorial Director of Ingesa for the last 7 years has made it clear that, although it is necessary to continue moving forward, it has been years of intense work, in which very significant steps have been taken in the improvement of the Health of our city.
Thus, with regard to health infrastructures, he referred to the implementation of the University Hospital of Melilla, which is a real milestone: a state-of-the-art health infrastructure in the country, equipped with the most advanced equipment on the market, which places Melilla at a level of excellence. Likewise, the comprehensive reform and expansion of the Primary Care Emergency Service (SUAP) has been undertaken, which has meant a substantial improvement in an essential service for citizens.
But not only has progress been made in infrastructure and equipment, Haouari has also had words for the firm and sustained commitment to the reinforcement of human resources and the stabilization of staffing in public health.
“Today the INGESA in Melilla has many more troops than seven years ago and, in addition, with a much lower temporality. All this has been possible thanks, among other measures, to the numerous public job offers carried out during this time, which have provided stability and continuity to the professional teams,” he said.
The Covid pandemic
Dr. Omar Haouari also referred to one of the most difficult moments he has experienced as a professional and as a citizen, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. “Those months put our capacity for resistance and organization to the test, but they also brought out the best of all the professionals working at the INGESA in Melilla,” he recalled.
“His dedication, commitment and humanity were exemplary, and the management carried out in our city was recognized by the Ministry of Health itself. Having shared that experience as hard as it is transcendental is something I will always carry with me,” he said.
Haouari has indicated that he is leaving the position with “the satisfaction of having contributed my effort and dedication to the improvement of public health in Melilla”, while at the same time he has recognized “the illusion of re-practicing medicine from the proximity to the patient, which is the essence of our vocation”.
Finally, he made it clear that, beyond the position I have occupied or may occupy in the future, “I will always consider INGESA as my home” and “my willingness to continue collaborating and contributing in everything within my reach in favor of public health and Melilla society will remain intact.”
