The Delegate of the Government in Melilla, Sabrina Moh, has assured that since the beginning of Operation Paso del Angol (OPE) last Sunday, June 15, until today, everything is being “quite quiet”.
In this regard, he explained that the border crossing of Beni-Inicio is usually affected, especially in the Departure Phase, “given that the bulk of people who disembark in the city on the occasion of the OPE try to cross the border to reach Morocco.”
“Analyzing the waiting times that are taking place, for now the data we have is that the waiting times are much lower than in previous editions,” he said. Thus, he has nuanced that they closely follow the waiting times for their possible impact on the Melillense citizenship.
In addition, the head of the Government Delegation has pointed out that no incident has occurred so far, so he has valued these first three days of Operation Strait Pass as “relatively quiet”.
Sabrina Moh has highlighted the important effort and the need to maintain coordination, collaboration and cooperation in order to minimize the impact of the summer period as far as the OPE is concerned, with the aim of “reducing the wait as much as possible”.
