The Provincial Director of Education of Melilla, Elena Fernández Treviño, attended the ceremony of the National Awards eTwinning 2025, in which the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports (MEFPyD) has awarded a total of 10 projects developed by 20 teachers belonging to 11 educational centers throughout Spain, works in which teachers from countries such as Portugal, Greece, Turkey, Italy, or France, among others, have also collaborated.
These projects have been carried out within eTwinning, a programme of the European Commission that promotes collaboration between schools in different countries through a virtual platform and the use of different web tools.
Among the awarded themes are the study of the oceans, emotional education through AI tools, or the role of women in classical antiquity.
The event, which took place in San Sebastián yesterday, was attended by the Secretary of State for Education, Abelardo de la Rosa; the Director General of Evaluation and Territorial Cooperation, Mónica Domínguez García; or the Director of the National Institute of Educational Technology and Teacher Training, Julio Albalad, among others.
Among the awarded themes are the study of the oceans, emotional education through Artificial Intelligence tools, health and well-being through physical education, the role of women in classical antiquity and today, or environmental sustainability.
Fernández Treviño stressed that eTwinning is much more than a digital network, “it is a true pedagogical community that demonstrates that collaboration between centers, countries and cultures deeply enriches teaching processes.”
In his speech, the Secretary of State pointed out that among the purposes of this platform is to enrich educational practice and lead it to success, which far from being an individual issue, “resides in the capacity for collaboration”, an essential issue to move towards a true European Education Area.
In Spain, the eTwinning network has 57,353 teachers, 14,151 centers and 34,872 projects registered since the program began in 2005. In this edition, 143 projects developed during the 2023-2024 academic year have been presented.
