“Never, since we entered democracy, have Employment Plans been made in the city, in the same financial year, with an investment of almost 31 million.”
The Provincial Director of the SEPE, Jorge Vera, in an interview granted to the COPE Network, referred to the two Employment Plans that the Government Delegation is going to carry out this year, with an amount of 13 million euros house one, and the about 5 million euros that the Government of Spain is going to allocate for an Employment Plan in the autonomous city.
Some employment plans, he said, that allow them to give a first work experience to many people which, in turn, facilitates the insertion of work in companies.
Regarding the first of the Employment Plans that the Government Delegation is developing, Vera has explained that “it is practically executed” and has pointed out that, by June, all the contracts made and finalized will be.
From there, he added, the SEPE will begin to work on the Employment Plan that Ciudad Autónoma is going to carry out, and, after it, on the new Employment Plan of the Government Delegation for another 13 million euros, “which is expected to begin hiring at the end of the year.”
In addition, he has stressed that the second Employment Plan that the Delegation is going to develop will include qualified personnel. “The court ruling has meant that in order to hire groups higher than E1 and E2, it was necessary to make a modification of the amounts of the modules attributed in their remuneration to the contribution groups and that is resolved,” he explained.
Positive impact
With regard to the unemployment figures, which after the end of April has been reduced by 8,262, which means 490 job seekers fewer than in March, Vera has pointed out that the Employment Plans have a positive impact on these figures, especially when there are 387 people hired through this active employment policy, in addition to 103 melillenses who have joined a job unrelated to the Employment Plans.
Therefore, Vera, who has been optimistic, has pointed out that there is a “trend that is good and that opportunities are going to be given”. “I think it will improve, not only because of the Employment Plans,” he said, although he acknowledged that this year’s 2025 is a very important investment and confirmed that these Employment Plans will continue to be carried out as a tool to insert melillenses into the workforce and to provide them with work experience.
Finally, the Provincial Director of SEPE, in terms of job stability, recalled that before the labor reform approved by the Government of Spain, indefinite hiring was barely around 8%, while now, month by month, it exceeds 40% of contracts.
