The Government Delegate, Sabrina Moh, has received the civil guard, Mostafa Touali Mimon, from the Swimming, Intervention and Rescue (NIR) team of the Melilla Civil Guard Command, who participated in the rescue maneuver of two migrants approaching the city through the area of Horcas Coloradas.
The operation, carried out in adverse weather conditions and with strong waves, took place over several hours last Wednesday, April 30. One of the migrants was rescued around 5:00 a.m., and the second could finally be saved at 7:30 a.m. after several attempts, both of them being transferred to the Regional Hospital with symptoms of hypothermia.
The highest representative of the Government of Spain, accompanied by the Chief Colonel of the Command, Jesús Rueda, and the Lieutenant Colonel, Arturo Ortega, has highlighted the bravery and professionalism of the agent, personally thanking him for his commitment to the service of security and the protection of human lives. “Actions like this reflect the spirit of dedication of our State Security Forces and Corps,” he said.
