The Minister of Equality, Ana Redondo, participated yesterday in a telematic meeting with the heads of the Government Delegation against Gender Violence and the Coordination and Violence Units on Women of the Government Delegations throughout the national territory, in which the Head of the Coordination Unit against Violence took part. Woman of the Government Delegation in Melilla, Laura Segura.
The meeting detailed the main developments of the renewed Pact, which broadens its focus to include other forms of violence against women, such as vicarious violence, digital violence, economic violence, trafficking and sexual exploitation, sexual harassment and forced marriages. This extension reflects a more comprehensive and up-to-date approach to the multiple manifestations of male violence.
Among the highlights, special focus was placed on the need to strengthen the protection of minors, vulnerable groups and women with disabilities. Likewise, emphasis was placed on the training and specialization of all actors involved in the care, prevention and prosecution of gender violence, from security forces to health, educational and judicial professionals.
The importance of more efficient protection and prevention services and actions was also addressed, and the strengthening of standards, coordination structures and economic resources was stressed. The renewed Pact includes new laws and regulatory changes - such as those related to the fight against trafficking - as well as co-governance mechanisms with other administrations, common protocols, action guides and working groups to homogenise criteria and ensure effective monitoring.
Finally, an increase in funding for these policies was announced, which will strengthen institutional responses and improve care for victims throughout the country.
Specifically, the amount for the State Pact goes from 140 million euros last year to 160 million euros for this year 2025, of which 1,844,730 euros are going to be allocated to the city of Melilla.
In addition to this amount, 414,243 euros will be invested in various regional programmes and plans for victims of gender-based violence and sexual violence.
In the meeting, Redondo highlighted the role played by territorial units in the effective implementation of public policies for equality and the eradication of gender violence.
