The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, has stressed that the Government of Spain “is clear that one of the aspects we have been working on and we will continue to do so, due to the geographical situation in which we are, is transport and the Working Group, here in Melilla, will continue to operate and we will continue to work on this issue”.
The head of the Government Delegation, in an interview granted to COPE, explained that the Transport Working Group created by the Government of Spain, of which all the agents involved in the city are part “because we are the ones who know the territory”, will be convened again in this first semester.
Thus, unlike a possible technical commission in the Cortes Generales, Moh has pointed out the group created in Melilla, it is composed of the social agents, the business sector, the Autonomous City, the airport, the port, the Government Delegation… the entities that “we really know the reality of Melilla”.
Better transports
However, the head of the Government Delegation has highlighted the improvements that have taken place in both air and maritime transport during these more than six years. “Since we are in the Government, the quality of services, connectivity has improved, we have invested in the airport terminal…”, he recalled.
The Delegate also referred to the extension of the airport hours, which was very much demanded and which was a claim made to the PP Government and which it did not execute.
“We no longer have to wait for a change of time, but the winter and summer time have been adjusted and unified and the frequencies have been increased,” he said.
“We have flights late at night that allow us that a delay of the plane does not mean a cancellation or that we can spend an entire day making arrangements without spending the night on the peninsula,” he said.
Regarding the Public Service Obligations (PSO), he recalled that since the current Government “we have shielded four flights in the previous PSO and now we have extended it to five weekly flights to Almeria and Granada”. In addition, in maritime transport, “we have better ships”, and an historic investment with 80 million euros in the navigation contract.
