The Delegate of the Government in Melilla, Sabrina Moh, has clarified that the role played by the institution of which she is the owner has been to “make arrangements, both with the Secretary of State for Trade, and with the Chamber of Commerce, at the request of the entrepreneurs themselves, to see how the issue of the Chamber of Commerce of Melilla can be unravelled.”
An issue, he recalled, that is given “by a mismanagement of the Chamber of Commerce of Melilla”, reason why it was dissolved. From there, he added, the Government Delegation “does not establish any position” but “establishes coordination and communication to be able to transfer and transmit to entrepreneurs first-hand what are the steps to follow”.
The highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city has thus wanted to deny the information that has been given in recent days according to which she was arrogant of a certain position on the Chamber of Commerce of the city.
In fact, Sabrina Moh pointed out that she thinks it is positive that Melilla has a Chamber of Commerce, but she has made it clear that the initiative belongs to the entrepreneurs themselves. “Si el sector empresarial consensua que quieren una Cámara de Comercio, hágase. That’s fine with me,” he said.
“It is not the Autonomous City or the Delegation that has to promote the Chamber of Commerce. It’s just not real. It has to be promoted by the entrepreneurs themselves”, he stressed, while pointing out that, as has been done so far, the Delegation is “to collaborate, to try to accompany and solve the problems”.
Consensus and feasibility
That has explained that a Chamber of Commerce in Melilla “does not have from today to tomorrow” so “in that period of time, in that impasse of time, different solutions are offered so that Melilla can also participate in different actions that are set in motion by the National Chamber of Commerce”.
“Right now there is no Chamber of Commerce, but we could be benefiting from certain issues through the Chamber of Commerce of Spain,” he said.
Furthermore, the Delegate explained that for a Chamber of Commerce to be given in our city there must be consensus on the part of the business sector to activate it. A consensus that did not exist and that, in fact, thanks to the meeting that took place last week, positions have been brought closer. But, in addition, a viable and sustainable plan in time is also necessary to activate it.
Hence, it has been suggested that, in the meantime, there should be a delegation that could have contact with the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in order, among other things, to disseminate calls that have arrived in Melilla and that, precisely because of their lack of dissemination, have not been able to be used.
In this chapter he has called on the Autonomous City, instead of being “continuously in the dispute” and wasting time in blaming the Delegate on all issues, to use that time in disseminating the calls “because entrepreneurs can benefit, even if the Chamber of Commerce is not constituted”.
