The Delegate of the Government in Melilla, Sabrina Moh, referred to the transfer to reception centers to the peninsula of the migrants who were next to the CETI and explained that an “exceptional solution” was sought due to the circumstances that have occurred.
As the head of the Government Delegation explained “in coordination with all the ministries involved, what we have done has been to look for an exceptional solution to cover these people and that the processing could be followed thinking of the interests of all people and that, in turn, all the requirements with the current regulations were met”.
Moh has insisted that this is an “exceptional measure” to respond to the situation, but has stressed that the dating system must be followed and that those who want to enter the CETI must comply with all the requirements and with all the criteria so that they can be covered in the CETI, especially when, in this case, there was the circumstance that they were not asylum seekers.
A center, he stressed, of which “we cannot lose sight of what it is constituted and what the objective is” as it is to give a first reception to vulnerable profiles and, especially, to people who enter by fence or by sea and who have no recourse and who avail themselves of this request for asylum.
“We have to be very clear about what are the objectives, purposes and resources we have in the city and what we have to meet at all times to be able to make use of them,” he concluded.
