The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, has reported that she is making arrangements for the city to establish maritime connections between Melilla and Almería on weekends.
The head of the Government Delegation, who has directly addressed this issue with the Secretary General of Air and Maritime Transport, Benito Núñez, explained that “we are very advanced on this issue and we are very close to giving you an answer”.
Thus, from the entity that directs Moh, a report of usefulness of social interest for these lines has been prepared and sent to the General Directorate of the Merchant Navy, which includes the requests of the Platform of People Affected by the Transport of Almería, whose representatives held a meeting, a few days ago, with the Director of the Functional Area of Promotion, Juan José Martín.
“There are many citizens who, for family, work, business or other reasons, benefit from having a maritime connection during the weekends with the city of Almeria and, therefore, from the first moment we have started to work to see if it was feasible to reorganize the rotations and give an answer to that need,” said the Delegate.
Moh stressed that “the Government Delegation works to respond to what the citizens need”, given that the general interest of the Melillenses “is the principle by which we govern all our actions”.
Quality sea connections
“For this Government Delegation the maritime connections of our city with the Andalusian cities of Almeria, Malaga and Motril are fundamental, that is why, from the first minute we have worked to guarantee the connections and offer the citizens of Melilla a quality maritime transport, which is what we deserve,” he explained.
In this context, Moh recalled that it was this Government that included the line with Motril within the navigation contract, thus guaranteeing this line, compared to the previous Executive that I assure that it was something impossible.
It has also been this Government that has managed to make Melilla count on the most modern ship on the market, in contrast to past times when the Melillenses were condemned to old and bad ships.
