“It is essential to continue promoting this work in co-education to inspire the next generations of scientists, engineers, researchers and leaders.”
The Provincial Director of the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports (MEFPyD) in Melilla, Elena Fernández Treviño, has highlighted the work done by the León Solá educational center, for its celebration of the ‘International Day of Women and Girls in Science’.
The head of the MEFPyD in our city, accompanied by the Head of the Coordination Unit Against Violence Against Women of the Government Delegation, Laura Segura, attended this week the activities that the ‘León Solá’ has carried out on the occasion of the ‘Day of the Girl Child and Science’, organized by the equality coordination team and its head of Equality, Paqui Estrada, and with the involvement of a large part of the students of the center.
“We would like to congratulate the school for its dedication and commitment to the celebration of International Day of Women and Girls in Science. It is inspiring to see how in the educational field they promote the participation of girls in the scientific and technological field, breaking stereotypes and opening up paths towards equal opportunities,” said Fernández Treviño.
“In the work carried out we were able to see the effort to make the role of women in science visible, promoting educational activities and creating an environment that boosts the curiosity and talent of the students,” explained the Provincial Director of Education. Something, he said, that “seems to us to be a fundamental step towards building a more just and inclusive future”.
“We want to thank this center and the rest who work this anniversary, for helping girls feel able to achieve their dreams and for reminding us that science has no gender,” he said.
