Melilla hosts today and tomorrow the II Conference of the State Foundation for Training in Employment (Fundae) in which, through presentations and workshops, they will offer the necessary tools to face the digital transformation of the labor market and the disruptive process of artificial intelligence (AI).
The Conference, which takes place under the title ‘Young people, AI and the future of entrepreneurship’ at the Kursaal Theatre, aims to inspire, train and connect new generations, entrepreneurs and local companies with the world of artificial intelligence.
In statements to the media, the Managing Director of Fundae, Antonio De Luis, stressed that the State, in this case the State Public Employment Service (SEPE) and the Fundae itself, have tools for the entire population. “It is only necessary to enter the Fundae website and see the tools to do the digital transformation process that affects us all, in all jobs and in all sectors,” he said.
In fact, last year alone, the Foundation trained more than 45,700 people in Melilla, with 105,000 hours of training. “We need to promote the two initiatives that exist to Fundae, the bonus of the formation of companies, as well as for the workers of the SMEs to access the search engine of Fundae, in which this year there will be one million training places, specific training courses”, he has already indicated that, he has pointed out, it will increase the number of melillenses that are going to be formed. “We have to empower it and that’s why we’re here,” he added.
Antonio De Luis has pointed out technology as a sector in which it can be undertaken in the city “which has important technological conditions that can give rise to a development model similar to Malaga, which is an important technological development, because it is a very attractive city, it is a very pleasant environment and with a very high quality of life and the technological development model goes there, offering an interesting life model”.
The Managing Director of Fundae has recognized that the appearance of AI “for Spain is a great opportunity because we Spaniards are very creative, that is a tool that enhances creation, creativity and enhances our value”. Therefore, he pointed out that “you don’t have to be afraid, you have to get to it and for that we are here, to show the tools that are available”.
Technology in the work processes
The Director General of the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), Gerardo Gutiérrez, who described these days as “an extremely important event for the city of Melilla”, for the opportunity they represent, recalled the success that the Day held a few months ago entailed and that it was “the opportunity to talk about incorporating innovation, artificial intelligence and all the strength of the labor market and economy that we currently have in development in this country”. Therefore, “we knew that we had to repeat it on this occasion with more force, it is two days that we are here”, he said.
In the words of Gutiérrez, what we want to express is “the great opportunity that Melilla has and that the people who are currently working, are being trained in Melilla, to know that artificial intelligence, the entire technological part is on their side and that without ever losing sight of personalized accompaniment”.
In fact, he has reported that in recent weeks in Melilla the part of the professional orientation service has been strengthened “because we know that, in addition to that artificial intelligence, that technological power we have, personalized accompaniment, it is key to technical accompaniment to people so that the information that reaches them is adequate when making their decisions about their vital itinerary and their professional itinerary are appropriate”.
Gerardo Gutiérrez has valued the participation of youth in these conferences but also of small and medium-sized companies “because this type of event is also aimed at SMEs who have to be aware that we have here the SEPE and the Fundae to help them incorporate technology, artificial intelligence into their work processes”.
Adapt to a changing world
The Delegate of the Government in Melilla, Sabrina Moh, has inaugurated this second edition of the conference, addressing in a special way the young people and students present there, “fundamental key for the future of Melilla”. In this way, he has invited the attendees to learn and take advantage of the training and presentations in which experiences are shared, “tangible realities that serve as a model and source of inspiration”.
In the words of the head of the Government Delegation, “young people have a fundamental role. We always say that it is important, that it is necessary to train people to adapt to the reality of Melilla, but we also have to make Melilla adapt to the reality of a changing world, a world in which new technologies and AI are advancing by leaps and bounds and we cannot be left behind.”
Moh has highlighted the importance of training linked to employment and “how to work from education to be able to implement all the existing tools to make our city increasingly prosperous”. “This is the present, but it is also the future,” he said.
“It is necessary to value and transfer to all citizens what are the tools we have at our disposal to adapt to this changing world,” he said.
On the other hand, he has referred to the latest unemployment figures in our country and has assured that “we are going in the right direction”. “We are seeing unemployment figures that are going down, but we want to continue doing the job well,” he said.
City Development
The Provincial Director of SEPE in Melilla, Jorge Vera, has acknowledged that it is an honor for the city to have the presence of Fundae and has recalled the “spectacular” response that had the last days, in October of last year, both from the citizens and from the entities, associations, foundations of different public agencies, collaborators, companies, social agents…
“The result was huge, there were more than 400 people in one day, it was shocking because most of the attendees were students, they are doing Baccalaureate, they are finishing training cycles, they are future entrepreneurs”, he recalled, and pointed out that students from universities such as the UGR also participated, “they are also future entrepreneurs, and they were given tools that they did not know”.
“That Fundae enters Melilla is important, that SEPE and Fundae work together to develop these tools and put them at the service of the user, small business and SMEs is fundamental for the development of this city, especially also in the field of technological sectors,” he said.
