The Government Delegation has today hosted a meeting to coordinate and channel the collection and delivery of food, clothing and other products that are being collected from Melilla to bring them to the Valencian Community to those affected by DANA.
Today’s meeting, which is the second that has been held for this reason after a first contact meeting took place on Wednesday, has served to concretize how all the help that the autonomous city is going to get.
The meeting, which was chaired by the Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, was attended by representatives of the Civil Guard, Customs, the functional areas of Agriculture and External Health of the Delegation, the Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of Education, as well as representatives of many associations and agencies.
Many entities have wanted to show their solidarity with those affected by the DANA and that is why, as a result of this, the ‘Melillenses with Valencia’ initiative has emerged.
The aforementioned initiative is made up of the Food Bank of Melilla, by the associations of neighbors of Hipodromo, Comunidad, Ágora, Rusadir, Barrio Industrial, Primo de Rivera, La Friendship, Estopignan, El Pueblo, Tesorillo; the educational centers CEIP Pintor Eduardo Morillas, CEE Reina Sofía, CEIP Encarna León, CEIP Real, CEIP Pedro de Estopignan, CEIP Mediterranean, CEIP Fundación Salar, CEIP
The head of the Government Delegation thanked the work being done by the Melillenses who have invested with this initiative and pointed out that our city is a territory that always shows solidarity whenever necessary.
The campaign to collect this aid began on November 5 and will end on the 15th of this month and people who want to collaborate can do so through the aforementioned entities.
As far as the foods you want to donate are concerned, these must be non-perishable, such as oil, juices, pasta, canned fruits, legumes, rice, fried tomato, sugar and sweeteners, flour, coffee, tea, infusions, bottled water, gazpacho, vegetables canned either in glass or bricks, nuts, children’s foods such as pots…
In terms of personal hygiene products, gels, shampoos, toothpaste, wipes, toilet paper, diapers (babies/adults), compresses… but also protective products such as nitrile/work gloves, protective masks ffp2 or protective goggles, or cleaning and disinfection products or also household clothing and clothing (blankets, towels, sheets…)
