“Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a great challenge for everyone, for all professions, all sectors, but it is a very strong source of opportunity.” The Managing Director of the State Foundation for Training in Employment (Fundae), Antonio de Luis, together with the Provincial Director of the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), Jorge Vera, has highlighted the importance of AI in the labor market and in the entire current employment sector.
This morning, the Kursaal Theatre hosted a Conference of the SME University project, funded by the European MRR funds, promoted and organized by Fundae and SEPE, which under the title ‘Young people, AI and the Future of Entrepreneurship’ seeks to inspire, train and connect new generations with the world of AI.
“It is about explaining to the students and the SMEs of Melilla what are the training tools that they have,” said Antonio de Luis, who has indicated that the objective is to present the courses that all SMEs and all workers can do from Fundae free of charge.
“It’s very simple, you just have to go to the Fundae website and see the courses”, he acknowledged, and pointed out that throughout the day the tools available to workers and SMEs for training are explained and cases of Startup success are also explained. “Through five opponents, we explain how they have faced the process of digitization and very important that of artificial intelligence, which affects us all,” he said.
Fundae offers more than 1,500 types of training actions that obey the process of transversal digitalization of the whole company, digital transformation, model change, cybersecurity. artificial intelligence... “They are courses open to the whole population, that is, anyone entering the website of www.fundae.es accesses those courses”, he said and has made it clear that “really what they are trying to do is not leave anyone out, that everyone can have a vision and a proper training for the digital transformation”.
Step forward for city
The Conference, which has also been broadcast by streaming, has had about 500 registrations between Melilla entrepreneurs and students of Professional Training of Melilla.
In his speech to the media, Jorge Vera, has highlighted the importance of this type of conference taking place in our city. “For the city of Melilla it was very necessary this visit of Fundae and Universidad Pymes, a huge project that goes on tour in Spain, presenting the latest updates, the latest research, the latest success cases for SMEs, for future entrepreneurs,” he said.
“It’s a step forward for the city,” he said. As he has indicated, the industrial fabric is limited in the city but has highlighted the fact that both the Ministry of Education “has adapted its educational offer very much to all these needs of the city itself, seeking greater employability and digital transformation”.
In this regard, Vera has stressed that “the impact of artificial intelligence on SMEs comes to stay. It is the future, it is a challenge and we will have to take advantage of everything that it gives us to produce more and better.”
In fact, he has announced that today’s day is the prelude to the one that will be held at the end of January 2025 in our city to address this issue in more depth.
Redefine the way to undertake
During the institutional welcome of the Conference, the Secretary General of the Delegation of the Government in Melilla, Sana Abdeslam, stressed the importance of this conference focused on young people from Melilla, “who are the present and the future of Melilla”, and incardinated to technology, and specifically to AI, something “that, not only has had a full impact on the new work reality but on our lives, and is called to transform them completely in a very short space of time, because in fact it is already doing so”.
The number two of the Government Delegation, which thanked Fundae and SEPES for the initiative, pointed out that although Melilla, due to its specificities and characteristics, cannot host large factories or industrial pavilions, it is the perfect enclave to develop cutting-edge business models linked to ICTs.
“Artificial Intelligence is no longer just a technological trend, it has become a working tool that is redefining the way we undertake and do business,” he said, noting that from process automation to personalization of customer experiences, through optimization of operations and the generation of new ideas through the analysis of large volumes of data, AI is opening doors that previously seemed unattainable. At the same time, “it is democratizing access to innovation, allowing entrepreneurs of all sizes to compete on equal terms,” he said.
“In these days we will explore the synergy between youth, entrepreneurship and artificial intelligence. A trio of forces that is reconfiguring the world as we know it. Because, while we are living in an era marked by technological disruption, where innovation is the engine of change, the fuel of that engine of change is the energy of young people, their ability to create and grow, to innovate and to undertake new projects,” he said.
In Abdeslam’s words, AI “makes available to everyone powerful tools that were previously reserved for large corporations.” “A young entrepreneur with a brilliant idea and access to the right tools can compete on an equal footing with tech giants,” he argued, while referring to the ability to automate tasks, allowing entrepreneurs to focus on creativity, innovation and problem solving. Or the analysis of large volumes of data quickly and efficiently, “which provides entrepreneurs with valuable information to make strategic decisions and, thanks to these artificial intelligences, it is possible to offer highly personalized products and services to each client, which increases satisfaction and loyalty.”
