“The People’s Party has been deceiving us for seven years on the subject of the University Hospital. Either that, or they’re bad managers.”
The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, in an interview granted this morning to Television Melilla, has addressed the reality of health in our city and the new health infrastructure, whose works began the Government of Rodríguez Zapatero and which the Executive of Rajoy paralyzed for almost 7 years and were not able to resume.
“The Government of Pedro Sánchez, in less than six months, resumed the works and, to date, the infrastructure is already received and there are 252 professionals that are planned to hire for the operation of this University Hospital,” he said.
The head of the Government Delegation has valued the investment effort of this initiative, which has cost 100 million euros, and which has involved “a lot of work, because we can not forget that, since we arrived at the Government, the work has not stopped for a single day, even having had to face the worst pandemic in recent history and which has also been a setback that we did not expect, but, nevertheless, we have continued to respond”.
Moh lamented the “noise” that has been generated from certain sectors “and that seems to be in their interest for the government to fail, despite the fact that this damages the Melillense citizens.” In any case, he has insisted that the Executive of the Nation “will put all the effort so that the Hospital works with all the guarantees and that it does not harm the citizens and provide the service that the Melillenses need.”
“We have equipment at the forefront of the market and we have a necessary machinery with which, in addition, we are going to expand the list of services. Not only that, we are going to expand the professional categories by 22 and, as I said before, we are going to increase the staff of the hospital by 252 professionals,” he said. “And for all this to be a reality, all previous work has been done, and we have been working from the very beginning. And thanks to that the hospital is going to be a reality and it is going to work with all the guarantees,” he said.
6 years of progress
During the television interview, the government delegate was asked about the criticisms made by the College of Doctors of Melilla. “All professionals have the right to claim what they consider relevant and that is fine and, in addition, this is a government that listens and responds to requests,” he said.
In fact, he has clarified that many of the requests that have been made from this group are issues on which the Government was already working so that they can be implemented as soon as possible.
In any case, Moh has recognized that in the face of tangible and objective facts, such as the fact that there is less pressure in the emergency service or the decrease in terms of deliveries, they have not been pronounced. “Before, there was a huge volume of work in these areas and, when another party ruled, the criticism was not made with so much effort,” he recalled.
“What are missing doctors? There is no shortage of doctors only in Melilla, if we post the news we see that there is a shortage of doctors throughout the territory, a problem where Melilla is also reflected and, therefore, we are working to give it a solution”, he said, while pointing out that this Government has hired more doctors than previously.
“Professionals are entitled to claim, but we must also recognize the effort that is being made and put on the table the different approaches and the different models of government, which are not the same,” he argued.
“Before, with the previous Executive, there was also a deficit of professionals so it is also good to side with the current Government, when this Government listens and is proposing solutions and giving answers to the needs that exist, so that Health is at the service of all citizens and we can all benefit from these improvements,” he said.
Especially when “there have been many projects that have been done, we have been the health centers, we have been modifying them and we have been adapting them to the needs, or the SUAP, which will also be launched as soon as possible”, he recalled.
And, with regard to hiring, the Delegate has contrasted the model of the previous government, with hiring of professionals two and three days, compared to the current government, which “we have put 240 contracts on the table of long duration, something that stabilizes the workforce, because it gives certainty to the workers”. In addition, “we have expanded doctors in Primary Care and Specialized Care,” he said.
All this, he stressed, without ever ceasing to work, given that “the Government has never said ‘we are perfect and we are not going to bring anyone else’, no, we are going to continue working to bring more doctors, more specialists and more professionals”, he has advanced, but he has pointed out that “it is also acceptable to recognize that it has been improving progressively during these six years and that it has taken a lot to reverse the situation of the Popular Party, which what it did in its seven years of Government was to dismantle Health”.
