The Provincial Director of the SEPE, Jorge Vera, in a public appearance, gave an account of the data in our city and explained that, by economic sector, the greatest decrease has occurred in the services sector, where there has been a decrease of 149 unemployed.

In his statement to the media, the Provincial Director of the SEPE has highlighted the fact that of the 1,205 recruitments that took place last May, 476 have been indefinite, which represents 39.5%.
The head of this body in our city is the drop in unemployment and the increase in hiring that is taking place, which has overcome the “barrier” of the 1,200 maximum contracts at a time when the Employment Plans are not in progress.
As Vera has detailed, in terms of registered unemployment, it refers, according to sex, to women with 5,337 unemployed, which represents 64.13%, compared to the 2,984 unemployed men that there are, which represents 35.87%. And, as far as minors under the age of 25 are concerned, there are 665 unemployed.
As far as unemployment benefits are concerned, in the autonomous city there are 2,877 beneficiaries either of contributory benefit (1,146 beneficiaries), Allowance (1,539 beneficiaries) or Active Insertion Income (192 beneficiaries) and the average amount received per beneficiary is 989 euros/month.
National data
The head of the Provincial Directorate of the SEPE has also echoed the national data where unemployment has fallen by 46,783 people in relation to the previous month (-1.79%). In this way, the registered unemployment has stood at 2,561,067, the lowest figure since August 2008 and, on this occasion, with record employment.
“We have a month that, once again, we see improvements in hiring, improvements in affiliation to Social Security,” he said, noting that Social Security registered 30,311 more members in June in seasonally adjusted terms. “There are 21.16 million members after 50 months of uninterrupted growth without counting seasonality and the calendar effect,” he said.
As he explained, the average affiliation is close to 21.4 million and this month there are 71,000 more workers and the number of self-employed workers reaches the highest figure in the series since July 2008 with 3,386,432. “The Spanish labor market marks a superior dynamism of the great European economies since before the pandemic,” he explained.
“We are growing 9.1 compared to 5.2 in France and 1.5 in Germany”, said and echoed the words of the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Immigration regarding the entry into force of the labour reform, according to which affiliation among children under 30 has also increased considerably, above the average.
She has also pointed out that women continue to be employed, given that there are 10.1 million affiliated women and they continue to improve those numbers, as does employment among young people, which increases by 15.5% compared to 2019 data and the number of self-employed workers is also above the average in this series with the data she has just shown.
“There is therefore greater stability in hiring, there are 3.6 million more workers with indefinite contracts and this is nothing more than the consequences of labor reform, which is having a positive impact on hiring and on the stabilization of contracts in this country,” he stressed.
