The Government Delegation will host tomorrow, June 28, at 10 a.m., the reading of the institutional declaration approved this week in the Council of Ministers on the occasion of the National Day of LGTBI Pride to reaffirm its commitment to the implementation of policies that help to achieve real and effective equality in our country.
Every year since 2018, the institutional headquarters has welcomed the reading of a manifesto in defense of equality and supporting the implementation of measures and initiatives that provide “the necessary tools to guarantee freedom and diversity in our country”, as explained the head of the Delegation, Sabrina Moh.
The highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city recalled that, since Pedro Sánchez arrived in La Moncloa, many advances have materialized in this area. Thus, he referred, for example, to the fact that in 2018, in the Council of Ministers, the 28th of June was declared ‘National Day of LGTBI Pride’. “In addition to this very important gesture for the search for awareness as a society, the Government of Spain wanted to renew its commitment to the principles of freedom, dignity, and free development of the personality of all citizens, with special attention to LGTBIQ+ people,” he stressed.
Moh has highlighted numerous equality initiatives, from the passage of the Same-Sex Marriage Act to the Trans* Act, passed in April last year.
“It was President José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero who said that a society is more decent when it does not humiliate any of its members. And for this reason, from the Government Delegation in Melilla, we want to continue betting on a more inclusive, diverse and egalitarian society”, he stressed.
