The Unit Against Gender Violence has participated in the Open Administration Week, where the students of Higher Degrees of Computer Science, Laboratory and Administration and Finance of Professional Training of the IES Leopoldo Queipo and the CIFP Reina Victoria Eugenia have known first-hand the work that is carried out within the different offices of the Delegation of the Government of Melilla.
The activity, which took place a few days ago at the headquarters of the Government Delegation, and in which the holder of the same, Sabrina Moh, together with the General Secretary of the Delegation, Sana Abdeslam, and the Head of Unit, Laura Segura, welcomed the students, allows to bring the work that this institution does to the citizens.
During the day, the Head of the Unit Against Gender Violence, Laura Segura, has developed an exhibition in which the functions developed by the Unit, applications related to the protection of victims of gender violence, resources and services of the General Administration of the State (016, Atenpro, AlertCorps, control devices, web of localized resources), resources in the territory, collaboration with local administrations in matters of gender violence and cooperation with other services of the General Administration of the State in the territory on issues of common interest have been explained.
The Unit has carried out awareness-raising and information activities, prevention actions, training and specialization of professionals, the work of data collection and analysis, as well as the other services provided by the Government Delegation in Melilla in terms of gender violence and ways of accessing and contacting them.
In addition, three workshops have been held with practical assumptions on how to respond to possible cases of gender violence, focusing on the resources made available to victims by the General Administration of the State and information on the Punto Violeta campaign has been disseminated.
Among other contents of this training, I would like to highlight the approach to the reality of gender violence and the different forms of violence against women and girls, ways of acting in specific situations, international and national legislation on male violence, causes and consequences of violence against women, etc.
On the other hand, the analysis of data and statistics has been addressed, highlighting the importance of using official figures confirmed by reliable entities to understand the true magnitude of the problem, which, in the words of the Head of Unit, is the main problem we have as a society.
