The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, has valued the “professionalism and vocation of public service and collaboration with the State Security Forces and Bodies, in the public and private sphere”, of the women and men who dedicate themselves to Private Security.
The head of the Government Delegation who thanked these professionals for their great work, urged all the staff who are part “of this great family of professionals” to continue working “with the same commitment, commitment and dedication, since your efforts are positive for the benefit of all citizens, something that we value as a society and of which you should feel proud.”
The Assembly Hall of the Command of the Civil Guard of Melilla hosted this lunchtime the commemorative event on the occasion of Private Security Day, presided over by the head of the Government Delegation, who stressed that security “is one of the most important assets we have as a city and as a country”.
“In recent years we have achieved a significant reduction in crime and crime, making Melilla and Spain safe places, so we can show our pride for this and for the magnificent work carried out by professionals from the private sector, those from the State Security Forces and Bodies and those from the Local Police, who work perfectly coordinated,” he said.
In her speech, the highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city defended the importance of today’s event to highlight the work carried out by private security professionals in Melilla. “A dynamic business sector that has been able to adapt to the existing reality and the demands of society”, he said and that, in Melilla alone, it has 6 companies and some 500 professionals dedicated to this activity and who carry out security tasks in both the private and public spheres.
“In our city we have a team of professionals, composed of women and men, who carry out their work from a professional point of view and a vocation of service and who, in collaboration with the State Security Forces and Corps, carry out security tasks in both the private and public spheres, highlighting places such as the Courts, the Temporary Stay Center for Immigrants, the port, the airport, the Juvenile Center, the health centers, or the Penitentiary Center, among others,” he said.
King Charles I's Law
In her speech, the head of the Government Delegation pointed out that today’s commemoration, which was established by the Ministry of the Interior in 2013 through a Ministerial Order, to recognize the relevance of private security in society and its contribution, is not a date chosen at random, but “loaded with symbolism”, since it was on May 21, 1518 when King Charles I promulgated the first Private Security Law in our country.
Although this figure began to be rural, during the 20th century it spread to the urban environment, and after successive modifications, its regulation is approved in our country with the first Private Security Law, in 1992, which finally integrates it with the public Security Forces and Bodies, as a complement to them, being the duty of private security to help and collaborate with them.
Moh has made reference to this historical background, as well as the regulation, which has recognized that they are something fundamental, but has stressed that what is relevant today is precisely to value the work that women and men in this sector perform.
“You are the first welcome greeting with the people. You combine your commitment to order and citizen peace with responsibility and proximity in dealing with citizens, with those people who come in search of information and assistance to solve a problem or to carry out a management”, he stressed.
“Your availability and involvement in the performance of your functions contribute decisively to improving the attention to the public, which is ultimately the goal that moves us, bringing us closer and closer to the people,” he added. In this regard, Moh has thanked them for their dedication and contribution to one of the main objectives of this sector, which is none other than the service to citizens.
Average degree of FP
As the Delegate pointed out, “you are part of an increasingly competitive and professionalized sector, adapting the new realities to the changes that take place in our society.”
At this point, it has valued the creation of the title of Professional Training of Medium Degree of Security Technician, complementing the training action of the sector, approved on July 18, 2023 at the Council of Ministers.
This new title, with a duration of 2,000 hours, includes practices in surveillance and protection of goods and people in public and private spaces, including new trends in private security, allowing, in addition, to focus on specific areas of it since it allows you to choose between different specialties.
“A training degree that demonstrates the importance of this sector that, throughout the country, has more than a thousand companies dedicated to this activity and about 150,000 people working in it,” he said.
This professional work of private security for the benefit of common security has achieved, as Moh pointed out, the recognition of Spanish society, “which overwhelmingly values your work positively and considers you as professionals to be able to trust and to turn to in case of need.”
Today’s event served to carry out the delivery of honorable mentions, so Sabrina Moh has made an express recognition to the people who have been recognized. “You are an example of constancy and that, thanks to your work and your vocation of service, you make the private security sector more professional and better valued every day,” he stressed.
But he has also had words of congratulation to the companies and the families and friends of these workers “who are a fundamental pillar in your work and in your lives and who accompany you unconditionally in the performance of your work”.
