“You carry with you a legacy of honor, integrity and exemplary service. Your actions have left a lasting mark on the history of our city and on the hearts of those you swore to protect.”
The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, has highlighted the “unwavering commitment to the duty and safety of all citizens” of eight professionals of the National Police in the act that the Superior Police Headquarters has carried out to pay tribute to an inspector, two sub-inspectors and five policemen for their passage to retirement.
“On this day of celebration and farewell, I would like to express on behalf of the Government of Spain and on my own behalf our profound gratitude and admiration,” said the highest representative of the Government of the Nation in our city, who stressed the importance of holding events such as this one “where we can transfer not only the gratitude and recognition of the institutions but also of the whole of society to those who have dedicated your life to the service of protecting others and express our most sincere recognition for your decades of sacrifice, dedication and courage in the service of our country and our city.”
“From the beginning of your professional career, you have received a training and experience that has allowed you to face the most daily challenges to the great adversities that you have had to face and that, during your career, you have resolved with an admirable determination and an unwavering commitment,” he said.
For this reason, Moh stressed that “the work of defending the fundamental values of our Constitution and protecting all citizens and guaranteeing our rights and freedoms, has become a true vocation of public service during your professional career.”
But beyond your actions, the Delegate has highlighted the human part, “those values that have always accompanied you to your actions, that empathy and sensitivity that you have demonstrated in your daily life, and that have contributed to making you a reference in the national and international sphere today”. “You have shown that police service is not only about enforcing the law, but also about building bridges of trust and mutual respect,” he said.
The Delegate has extended her gratitude to the families and loved ones of the retired police officers, given that “during all this time they have been a fundamental pillar in your lives and to whom, now, you can dedicate more time and give back a little of all the support, affection, and understanding that they have given you throughout all these years.”
Mirror where to look at us
For his part, the Regional Chief of Operations, José Ángel Sanz, has valued the importance of making a recognition of the personnel of the body that retires because “thanks to their efforts and efforts, and once their professional life has ended, they have made us inherit, this institution, of which we must undoubtedly feel fully proud.”
“You never stop being a policeman, today I tell you that you continue to belong to this body and that you continue to be committed like all of us, to the Police, to our fellow citizens, and to Spain,” he stressed.
In fact, he pointed out that it was these professionals of the Police who “have been here at the worst times, or in other parts of Spain suffering the scourge of crime or the scourge of terrorism, in sometimes difficult conditions, both inside and outside your workplace, in some cases, in situations difficult to cope with, suffering not only for yourselves, but for your families, before which you often had to endure what you felt, so that they did not suffer”.
For all of this, the Regional Chief of Operations has stressed that retired police “must be a heritage for what we are still active in, you must be a mirror to look at us, we must be grateful to you, and we must not forget your experiences and advice, although sometimes they seem to us that they are from other times, we must know how to get the essence of what you tell us”.
At this point, he pointed out that the active policemen must be governed by the vocation of service, dignity, dedication and loyalty as the 8 honored policemen have done throughout their professional career.
“Thanks to everyone, those who were and those who will come, the National Police will continue to renew itself over time and fulfill in an exemplary manner the mission of defending the rights and freedoms of all Spaniards,” he said.
In his speech, Sanz dedicated an emotional memory to all the policemen who died in an act of service throughout the history of the institution, and also to all those colleagues who died in recent times.
Diplomas and flower offering
During the event, which took place yesterday at the Sociocultural Equestrian Center, a diploma of recognition was given to these 8 professionals of the National Police to recognize their dedication to the body and as a culmination of their professional career.
These diplomas have been awarded by the Government Delegate, the Regional Chief of Operations and the Secretary General of the Headquarters, Isidoro González.
To conclude the solemn act, two police officers have made a floral offering in memory and tribute of the fallen of all time and, especially those who gave their lives in the fulfillment of their duty and, the anthem of the National Police has been interpreted.
