The Imserso will continue to adapt to the new social demands of Melilla. The Territorial Director of the entity in Melilla, Verónica Aznar, and the Director of the Base Center, Teresa Rizo, have referred to the work that the Imserso has been developing during all these years in our city and have influenced the need to continue evolving to adapt to the new needs.
In an interview given to Televisión Melilla, they have addressed the need to face the acceleration of administrative processes and increase the demand for services. “Over the last year, 24,000 people have been served, when the average used to be 19,000. We are talking about an increase of 30%, taking into account that the number of professionals in the center is practically maintained”, explained Aznar.
The Territorial Director of Imserso has insisted on submitting applications by electronic headquarters to speed up the procedure. “It’s much faster and it gets right to us.” Rizo has clarified that the center is not only responsible for assessing the limitations of users, but also their capabilities. “Behind every paper there is a person with a good skill and a need that we have to try to cover.”
The Base Center of the Imserso celebrated its 35th anniversary last Friday with the presence of people who have been linked to the center. Its director, Teresa Rizo, is one of the workers who has been working since the beginning. “For me it is beautiful, we are a great family and some of us have been inside since it was inaugurated,” he said. The Territorial Director, for her part, highlighted how easy it is to develop a sense of belonging to the center and the importance of worker commitment.
Aznar also talked about the project to establish a Development Care Center to address Melilla’s mental health needs. “It’s an area that needs more attention in the city,” he said. And, as he has explained, for 35 years, the Base Center of the Imserso serves people with disabilities in the territory, with a committed team and with the objective of giving opportunities to those who need it most. The center offers information, assessment, occupational training, early care for children, among other services.
