The Government Delegate, Sabrina Moh, pointed out that the new University Hospital is going to have state-of-the-art equipment, such as the Da Vinci robotic surgery system, which very few hospitals have, something “that is going to be a demand for specialists to come to the city”.
The highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city, in ‘Los Breakfasts’ of Onda Cero, has pointed out that “it is not the same to provide service in the Comarcal Hospital, which has a series of limitations, to have a hospital with state-of-the-art equipment that, in addition, will serve for professionals to continue training, or a new infrastructure with a greater portfolio of services, new equipment and more means, which will also serve as a claim to be able to bring specialists”.
The head of the Government Delegation has indicated that the new Hospital is an infrastructure of more than 100 million euros. “In what head can such an investment not be endowed with personnel to provide a quality service?”, he asked, and he made it clear that the objective of the Executive of Pedro Sánchez has been and is to increase the staff of professionals, as well as to improve the conditions of such professionals, “which is something that also has an impact on the service provided”.
Moh has pointed out that, to date, there are more health professionals than when they arrived in the Government and, in fact, he has reported that only this year 2023 “there are 17 more doctors in Specialized Care and 9 more in Primary Care, but, in addition, there are 10 doctors who are here in committee of services and who have not wanted to return to their destination and 4 other doctors who have moved their place here, to Melilla”.
“One of our main objectives is to continue working to bring more doctors, but we not only want to build the loyalty of doctors, but also of all the staff who provide service,” he stressed.
And, as all of them have pointed out, “they are a team and everyone is necessary. What would become of doctors if we did not have Nursing Assistant Care Technicians, if we did not have nurses, if we did not have cleaning staff or kitchen staff? Each one is a link that constitutes the perfect chain to provide that service and, from this Government, we will continue to work to continue improving the health quality in the city,” he stressed.
The Delegate has stressed that the goal is to continue to increase the staff. “It is obvious, we are going to have a health infrastructure that is 9 times bigger than the current Regional Hospital,” he said, but he pointed out that the increase will be made progressively.
More doctors than in 2018
On the management order proposed by the Melillense PP, Moh wondered why, given that, when they were at the head of the Government of the Nation, Health suffered a huge deterioration and subjected health professionals to total job instability and uncertainty with contracts of 2 and 3 days.
“What are you asking for the management order for? To, once again, impose co-payments, to continue dismantling healthcare, to continue harming the most vulnerable?”, he wanted to know.
In fact, he recalled that the first thing Pedro Sánchez did when he arrived at La Moncloa “was to eliminate copays and try again to rebuild the whole health issue that had been dismantled for so long and that has had an impact on Melilla”.
A government, he added, has also opted for the stability of professionals and for an end to temporality, making two-year contracts to more than 200 professionals and with Public Employment Offers to stabilize the workforce.
“Today we have more doctors than in 2018 and this is a reality.” What is there to keep bringing more doctors? Of course, it is necessary to continue working for Health and there they will always find me as an ally”, he stressed.
