The Imserso is working on a new sheet of Home Help – the current one expires in July 2024 – “that includes the improvement of the new Royal Decree approved by the Government and that allows us to promote more hours and more quality of service”.
This was announced by the Territorial Director, Verónica Aznar, in an interview granted to Televisión Melilla, who recalled that, with the Royal Decree approved in July of this year by the Government of Pedro Sánchez, “practically double the intensities and hours”, with which the monthly cost of this service amounts to more than 400,000 euros, compared to the 229,000 euros that it implied before the approval of this provision that regulates the benefits of the System for Autonomy and Attention to Dependency.
The Territorial Director has also stressed that another of the entity’s objectives is to reduce the evaluation and start-up times of this service. “We now have 6,171 files valued and, with regard to the applications, which amount to 7,087, we have 3,489 active,” he said.
“We are talking about a fairly large volume of applications and an administrative procedure that we tried to shorten as much as possible,” he said, and recalled that a couple of weeks ago, one more valuer and one more social worker were added to the team “to promote and accelerate the process as much as possible.” “It is about reducing the time and being able to meet the needs of the elderly, which is what it is about,” he said.
Improvements and technical means
During the television interview, Aznar referred to the investments that are being made to improve the Imserso centers in the city as well as improving the quality of the service provided to its users and the workers’ means.
“A titanic effort is being carried out by both the Polyvalent Center and the Territorial Direction in the area of Administration, because we are talking about that, this year, direct investments have been more than 400,000 euros,” he announced.
Thus, among the investments that are being carried out, he has referred to the works that are being undertaken in the roof of the Residence, to demolish it and install a new one, but also to the acquisition of 25 beds. “All the rooms are going to have a new bed. Last year they changed half and now we’re going to renew the rest,” he explained.
Some rooms in which ceiling cranes have been implemented. “We are talking about a quite important investment that helps the daily and titanic work done by professionals because that work needs instruments that facilitate that important load that involves moving users,” he said.
The Territorial Director of Imserso has also realised that the tables and chairs will be replaced at the Senior Citizens’ Social Center “to make them more comfortable and also manageable, to facilitate the loading and transportation of them” or that a series of purchases have also been made at the Base Center to improve the early care service.
“We are talking about a substantial improvement in the subject of investments, something that gives you a guarantee because not only do you have to work on improving the staff, but also in the technical means,” he said.
Veronica Aznar has revealed that a document has been created for next year’s investments. A report in which a collection of information is being made where it reflects what is needed and why. “Not only does the staff participate, but also the Boards of Government of both the Social Center for the Elderly and the Residence, to see what they need,” he said.
A document, he has made clear, in which it is reflected in a real way what is needed and that responds to the analysis of the rooms and dependencies of the centers. “It is about prioritizing our roadmap, which is nothing other than improving the quality of the resident and also that of the worker,” he concluded.
