The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, and the Provincial Director of Education, Juan Ángel Berbel, have today presented the XVII Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of School Security that, through talks and activities, will address in the classrooms bullying, the risks of inappropriate use of the Internet, the effects of drug and alcohol consumption as well as gender violence.
A program that “provides our children and young people with the necessary tools for coexistence and the generation of a climate of normality and security”, said the highest representative of the Government of Spain in the presentation of the Plan, which in this edition has taken place in the CEIP Mediterranean.
In the words of Moh, this Training Plan that complements the teachings that are taught in educational centers and offers a broad vision to students about many realities.
But in addition, he has stressed that it is important for the child population but also for society as a whole, since it offers tools for dialogue, while allowing them to be aware of the risks posed by drugs or Internet threats.
Training of more than 9,000 students
As Berbel explained, the Master Plan is going to be carried out in all educational centers, both in the public and concerted network, so it will reach a population of more than 9,000 students, of which 2,523 are from Primary, 3,633 from Secondary and 2,968 from Vocational Training cycles.
The Provincial Director of Education recalled that this plan was launched for the first time in the 2007-2008 academic year and emerged from the agreement signed between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of the Interior to respond in a coordinated manner to the safety of girls, boys and young people at school and in their environment, to improve knowledge about police resources and to make them aware of the need to eradicate violent behaviour in the school environment.
The first agreement included only actions for the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 school years, so in the 2009-2010 academic year it was extended to 2 more years and lines of collaboration were developed with the Secretary of State for Equality in all aspects related to the prevention of the appearance in school of behavior related to gender violence.
Berbel has pointed out that the pandemic forced in the 2019-2020 academic year to terminate the plan ahead of time and that the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 courses have been progressively developed “adapting to the health situation of each moment, until reaching the present school year where normality in the classrooms is absolute”.
Both the Delegate and the Provincial Director thanked the Ministry of the Interior, the Secretary of State for Equality and the educational centers for their collaboration and participation in order to be able to address these problems that may arise from the misuse of networks, addictions or gender violence.
Berbel has announced that among the talks to be given are issues such as drug prevention, health education, respect for diversity, inclusive education, or programs such as ‘food is not thrown away’, or ‘fire prevention in schools’.
