The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, has called for sanity and has asked the citizens that Melilla continue to be a global example of how different cultures live together in peace.
“We have always boasted of the importance our territory has of harmony, coexistence, social peace and that good neighbourliness that has always defined us, and therefore, I want to continue appealing to us to be a reference city for coexistence,” he said.
Moh has called for sanity as the head of the Spanish Government in the territory, but also as a Melillense. “I would like to appeal for us in Melilla, which is a unique territory, to continue thinking that, in diversity, lies our wealth, our legacy, and that we must continue to preserve it.”
Something, he said, that happens because “we are all responsible and that we continue to promote that good relationship between citizenship, that good coexistence between citizenship, and that, between all of us, we put that necessary grain of sand to continue conserving this which is our sign of identity”.
The Delegate, referring to the images seen on social networks, explained that the police had not made any arrests since there had been no serious disturbance - there had been an identification of the persons who had committed some type of incident - but, since other concentrations had been requested, she had requested that they should be conducted with wisdom. “You can’t end hate with more hate,” he said.
At this point he has urged that no one contributes to muddle the good relations, concord and coexistence of our city. “I am convinced that it will not happen, that we will all be aware of how important this coexistence is for us, as well as continuing to maintain it and, above all, continue implementing it and being that example of a city diverse and rich in cultures,” she said.
Security Strengthening
For a few days now, the Superior Police Headquarters of Melilla has reinforced the police presence in the main synagogue of the city, as well as in the Hispano-Israelita school and there has been a police presence in various parts of the city.
A reinforcement, explained the Delegate, “with a single objective that is to continue preserving good neighbourliness and the good relationship between cultures, religions and, in short, between citizens of Melilla, which in the end is what we all are”.
