The Government Delegate, Sabrina Moh, on the occasion of the commemoration of Private Security Day, has valued the work to be developed by professionals in this sector and their collaboration with the State Security Forces and Bodies.
“Your professional action of private security is present in all areas, both public and private, and your professional work for the benefit of common security has achieved the recognition of Spanish society, which overwhelmingly values your work positively and places its trust in the professionals who integrate it,” he said.
The highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city has highlighted the important asset that is security both in the city and in the country. “In recent years we have achieved a very important reduction in crime and crime, making Melilla and Spain safe places, so we can show our pride for this and for the magnificent work carried out by professionals from the private sector and the State Security Forces and Bodies, who work perfectly coordinated through the Central Private Security Unit of the National Police, for a legal mandate that positions this Body as a reference security operator in the face of the new challenges of crime,” he said.
Moh recalled that, as the Constitution establishes freedom and security as a fundamental right “because freedom and security are inherent to the human being and it is precisely what allows us to develop as people and carry out our vital project.” “Security is, in short, one of the basic pillars of our coexistence, because without security there is no freedom,” he said.
The Delegate has indicated that the Security Forces and Corps have the constitutional mandate to guarantee citizen security “and in the achievement of that objective, the collaboration of private security is essential” which, as she recalled, has a long and deep-rooted tradition in our country, given that it was in 1518 when King Carlos I promulgated the first Law on Private Security in our country.
After successive modifications, its regulation was approved in our country with the first Private Security Law, in 1992 integrated with the public security forces and bodies, as a complement to them, being their duty of private security the help and collaboration with them.
In 2013, Order 704/2013 of the Ministry of the Interior declared, precisely on May 21, “Private Security Day”, a date that serves, year after year, to recognize the relevance of this sector in society and its contribution.
“The purpose of establishing this day is to recognize the transcendental work carried out by private security and promote the dissemination of its social utility, sensitizing society about its contribution to the improvement of common security as an indisputable collaborator of the National Police and Civil Guard,” he said.
Professionalism and proximity
In her speech, Sabrina Moh referred to the fact that this sector has been able to adapt to the existing reality and the demands of society. “The private security workers collaborate every day to make our city a safe place and you are present in a multitude of public spaces of special relevance such as the airport, the port, and in many offices of the administration,” he said.
Specifically, the Delegate has pointed out that these professionals are in these public offices, on many occasions. “The first welcome greeting with the people.” “You combine your commitment to order with proximity in the treatment with the citizens, who come in search of information and assistance to solve a problem or to carry out a management. Your availability and involvement contribute to improving the attention to the public, which is ultimately the goal that moves us,” he stressed and thanked them for their dedication and professionalism in carrying out your work.
But it has also made an acknowledgement to the people who have been honored today. “You have become an example to everyone for your dedication, vocation of service and professionalism”, while having words of thanks for all professionals. “Congratulations to all of you for the high level of performance of your duties,” he said.
Moh has had words of remembrance and affection for the family of Carlos Morillo, at the same time that he has transferred his appreciation and recognition “to the whole of the great professional family that works with the objective of giving a determined impulse to your sector to face, with more strength, the challenges that arise in the day to day and to ensure the good functioning and consolidate excellent mutual relationship with the Public Administration and particularly with that of the Government that I have the honour to represent”.
“I know that, in this work, you all share the objective of improving the lives of citizens, making coexistence easier and thus supporting the development of our society,” he concluded.
