Collaboration with victims and survivors
Segura has stressed that violence against women “constitutes a serious violation of human rights and fundamental freedoms, it has been and continues to be one of the cruellest expressions of subordination and imbalance in the power relations between men and women.”
“As stated in the State Strategy to Combat Male Violence 2022-2025, the guarantee of effectiveness of public action in the field of intervention and fight against male violence inevitably requires close collaboration between public institutions and entities that are in permanent contact with victims and survivors,” he explained.
Thus, she has referred to the feminist movement, women’s associations and human rights, which she has defined as “keys” to improve the efficiency of the response to violence. “Their voices are essential to know at first hand the obstacles when it comes to combating the various manifestations of violence against women, identifying the needs of surviving female victims and their daughters and sons, as well as the demand of the professional groups that accompany them in the recovery and reparation process,” he said.
In the words of Segura, it is also key “to collect the possible solutions and complement them with those proposed by the public authorities with responsibility in the matter”.
Therefore, he added, it is also essential to coordinate the actions and work of all the actors involved, of the professionals of the network, establishing criteria for homogeneous intervention in situations of violence against women and minors, as well as to provide an efficient response, the training of all personnel working with situations of gender violence.
