The deputy delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Pilar Trinidad, has co-chaired today with the mayor, José Antonio Domínguez, the first Local Security Board of Fuentidueña de Tajo, convened on an extraordinary basis to finalize the details of the device that will be deployed during the patron saint’s festivities, which will be held from September 12 to 16.
Representatives of the Government, Civil Guard, Local Police, Civil Protection and the Community of Madrid have participated, who have reviewed in detail the Emergency Plan for Patron Festivities (PLANFESPA).
It establishes the protocols of action for any eventuality during the festivities, especially in the acts of greater influx such as the enclosures, concerts, fireworks and the traditional river procession through the Tagus River that receives more than 7,000 people.
It also includes specific measures of access control, surveillance, emergency health care and preventive signaling, with the aim of ensuring the safety of neighbors and visitors during all celebrations.
In addition, with the aim of strengthening awareness and prevention, during the holidays information panels identified as Violeta Points, LGTBI and against racial and ethnic discrimination will be installed. These panels incorporate QR codes with help and guidance resources, and will be accompanied by the distribution of tapavasos to raise awareness among the population, especially young people, about the risks of chemical submission.
The deputy delegate thanked the mayor for the work done with the plan presented and pointed out the usefulness of the local Security Boards for the correct coordination of the Security Forces and Corps during the patron saint’s holidays.
A unique procession along the Tagus River
One of the most unique and expected moments of the festivities is the traditional “Boat” of the Virgen de Alarilla, declared a party of regional tourist interest and heritage interest of the Community of Madrid.
It is a river procession with more than 150 years of history, in which the image of the Virgin travels the Tagus River on a decayed barge, accompanied by dozens of swimmers carrying torches and followed from the shores by neighbors and visitors in a festive and solemn atmosphere. It is the only procession of these characteristics that is held in fresh water throughout the Community of Madrid.
