The Community of Madrid registered in June 604,800 in foreign affiliates to the Social Security showing a stable trend compared to last month.
79% of these workers were covered by the General Social Security System, reaching 477,938 workers; while 12.69% are Self-Employed and 8.07% belong to the Special System of Domestic Employees. Meanwhile, 0.11% are still engaged in agricultural activities in Madrid. By activity, the five sectors with the highest number of foreign workers are: Wholesale and retail trade (15.61%), Hospitality (86,031), Administrative Activities (12.06%), Construction (11.19%) and Transportation and storage (9.35%). Of the total number of members from other countries in the Community of Madrid, 31.26% come from the European Union and 68.74% from other countries. By sex, 285,993 are women and 318,803 men.
More than 3 million in Spain
The Social Security has registered in the original series 3,096,015 foreign affiliates, the highest figure in the historical series, after adding 25,184 more affiliates this month, a third of the total employment created.
There are 1,069,456 foreign contributors more than in June 2018 and they already represent 14.2% of affiliates of the system. In fact, since the labor reform, 40.6% of the employment created corresponds to workers of foreign origin. Women already account for 43.4% of the total number of foreign workers, with 1,342,624 foreign affiliates.
In the seasonally adjusted series, the number stands at 2,991,623 affiliates (+19,537 compared to May), which represents almost 14% of the total number of contributors.
General regime
In line with the situation of native workers, 84% of foreign affiliates were covered by the General Social Security System, reaching 2,602,680 workers.
The sectors with the highest presence of workers from other countries are: Hotel Management (29.3%), Agriculture (26.6%), Construction (22.3%), Administrative Activities (17.2%), Real Estate Activities (14.8%) and high added value sectors such as Information and Communications (12.2%), Artistic Activities (11.2%) and Scientific and Technical Activities (10%).
