- A total of 605,381 foreigners have paid social security contributions in the last month of April.

Female domestic workers account for 17% of foreign affiliates. The number of foreigners affiliated to Social Security in the Community of Madrid, both European and non-European, this year is 605,381 workers, most of them in the regime of the general system, according to the latest figures corresponding to the month of April.
In fact, the general system employs 475,328 workers (78.5 per cent), while the agricultural system accounts for only 0.17 per cent. The other sectors by importance are the self-employed (12.85%) and the special household system (8.44%).
As for the total number of foreigners, 415,526 belong to countries outside the European Union, that is, 68.54% of the members, which is 6.6% more than last year. Meanwhile, citizens of the union have also increased by 3.18%; most agree on the general regime. In the case of women, both are in the majority in the general regime.
The self-employed also increase in both cases, foreigners from the union or non-EU countries, with an increase in this last year of 6.3% and which is reflected in both sexes.
The agricultural regime, although it is not the most powerful, increases the number of workers in the union affiliated to this regime, while the number of non-EU workers decreases. Currently, there are a total of 1,023 foreign workers registered under this regime.
Since the labor reform of 2022, the weight of the foreign population in our country has grown significantly: 41% of the employment created in the last three years corresponds to workers of foreign origin.
Workers affiliated in Social Security in Madrid
As for the general numbers of members in the Community of Madrid, the age range between 16 and 19 years is 25,970, with the age range between 45 and 49 years having the highest number of members, reaching 539,000 members in 2024. In 2025, the number of the youngest (16-19) increases to 27,807, while the 45/49 band is still the largest with 534,800 members, although the number of them decreases.
Curiously, workers over the age of 64 have increased by 7,000 people since last year.
