In order to address the problems of coexistence and well-being suffered by the residents of Calle Cullera and Cuart de Poblet in the Barrio de Lucero in Madrid and seek solutions to them, the Spanish Government delegate in the Community of Madrid sent letters yesterday afternoon, addressed to the Community of Madrid and the City Council of the capital, to formally invite them to participate in the Technical Working Table that has been convened for Thursday, January 30 at 10:00 h. at the headquarters of the Association of Neighbors of Lucero, in c/ 21 de Alhambra.
In this way, the announcement made that same morning by the government delegate on his visit to this neighborhood is effective, in which, accompanied by representatives of the neighbors, he noted the need for the joint work of all the administrations involved, since police action alone cannot solve some serious, complex and multidimensional problems, such as those experienced in this area of Madrid. The combination of social policies and security policies is essential to address problems with a comprehensive and therefore much more effective approach.
In his opinion, this type of working groups are essential to guarantee the effectiveness of the policies and, in this way, to be able to respond adequately to the challenges of coexistence, security and social cohesion facing the Community of Madrid.
In the missives, it demands from the regional and municipal administrations a greater commitment to complement security policies, given that both have key competences in terms of social services, housing, education and health or minors, all areas that have a direct impact on security and the social integration of the most vulnerable groups.
This technical panel, explained the letters sent, would be attended by representatives of the Community of Madrid, the City of Madrid and the Government Delegation, under the coordination of the Government’s sub-delegate, Mrs. Pilar Trinidad Núñez.
It will also be structured in two parts: (a) a first part in which the representatives of the institutions present will meet with the Association of Neighbors of Lucero, as an entity that represents the neighbors of the c/ Cullera and c/ Cuart de Poblet and (b) a second part with the participation only of the representatives of the institutions present.
The government delegate concludes the letters with a request that they consider their participation to meet the demands of Lucero’s neighbors and to assume their own responsibilities.
