The subdelegate of the Government, Pilar Trinidad, has participated today in the day dedicated to ‘Making Women in Science Visible and Empowering’, organized by the Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC), Wikimedia Spain and the Foundation for Madri+d Knowledge on the occasion of the celebration, on February 11, of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
In her speech, the subdelegate of the Government has focused on the underrepresentation that women continue to have in the field of research in the so-called STEM disciplines, as well as in the classrooms of the careers of these branches. Therefore, and although he has recognized that progress can be noted, he has considered that all activities that can be promoted to reverse these trends “are welcome”.
Together with the rector of the URJC, Javier Ramos, the deputy delegate of the Government has shared a table with the Minister of Education, Science and Universities of the Community of Madrid, Emilio Viciana Duro.
The day was also attended by: the president of Wikimedia Spain and professor of the URJC, Florencia Claes; the director of the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit of the URJC, Carmen García Galera, and representatives of the Complutense University of Madrid and the Autonomous University of Madrid.

This activity is one of those scheduled within the commemoration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, declared on February 11 by the General Assembly of the United Nations, a date that invites to reflect and analyze the current level of participation of women in science.
