Good security data, but special attention to Gender Violence
Francisco Martín recalled the good security data enjoyed by the Community of Madrid without forgetting the special concern about the incidence of Gender Violence, describing the year 2023 as “nefarious” in this area. Along these lines, it has once again stressed the need for municipalities to adhere to the VioGén system, or for expired protocols to be renewed, such as that of the Madrid City Council. On the contrary, he welcomed the
Last additions and those that are going to be confirmed this week as are Manzanares El Real and Guadalix de la Sierra.
The government delegate stressed that the region has record highs in terms of agents of the State Security Forces and Corps, “in the region the staff of the Civil Guard and National Police has increased by 10% since 2018.” He has also recalled the contributory improvements, in facilities and equipment.
Nor has he missed the opportunity to highlight the importance of tackling the search for solutions for the Cañada Real, promoting the policy of rehousing. Martín has pointed out that the situation requires the “commitment of all” to try to correct the inequality in the region, and in this line he has influenced his intention to hold meetings with the Community of Madrid and also with the municipalities involved.
Housing Policies and European Funds
Another of the topics reviewed by the government delegate has been housing policies, setting as a “powerful” example the progress made with the Madrid City Council in Operation Camp.
As for the European Funds, Francisco Martín has made available to the municipalities the Delegation to work on the execution of these funds that he points out is being carried out “in a very positive way”.
Important modernization of the Neighbourhoods network
In the field of transport, Martin has placed special emphasis on the Commuter Plan: “Madrid is going to receive more than a third of the trains that the Government of Spain has acquired.” To this are added the improvements in stations and infrastructures, such as, for example, the station of Parla, whose mayor, present at the meeting, has shown his satisfaction for the beginning of the works. In total, the delegate has calculated the investment of this modernization plan in the region to more than 7 billion euros.
In relation to this work of improvement, Martín recalled that the Community of Madrid has tools to alleviate discomfort that this important plan may generate, such as the Regional Transport Consortium, something that already conveyed to the president at his meeting months ago.
Cordiality and collaboration between institutions
