- Francisco Martín lends his collaboration to the FMM: “The Government of Spain will remain committed to each and every one of the 179 municipalities of the Community of Madrid”
The government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, participated this morning in the opening ceremony of the 11th plenary session of the Federation of Municipalities of Madrid (FMM), with a speech in which he began by recalling the “terrible day” for Madrid society lived yesterday with the two women murdered by gender violence and with the 5-year-old girl killed allegedly at the hands of her father in Madrid.
“Gender violence has claimed the lives of seven women in the Community of Madrid so far this year. These figures are unbearable, as it is unbearable that today 9,500 women in the region are currently at risk due to discharge from the VioGén system,” said the government delegate.
Government delegate request
For this reason, Francisco Martín has asked the mayors gathered in the plenary of the FMM to incorporate the Local Police who are not yet in the Viogén system, to advance in “the essential protection of the victims. Because better police coordination between bodies is key to better protecting women at risk.” “I am sure that in the coming weeks we will achieve the goal of incorporating all municipalities with more than 70,000 inhabitants into the system,” said the government delegate.
The government delegate has also called on local Community entities to continue investing in the prevention of violence and the provision of social intervention services: “Every penny spent on it is a penny spent on saving lives.”
Next Generation Wallpapers
Francisco Martín also referred to the “multitude of programs” aimed at local entities and financed with Next Generation funds, in order to modernize our towns and cities, betting on digital transformation and ecological transition. And he said: “The Government of Spain will remain committed to each and every one of the 179 municipalities of the Community of Madrid and, of course, to this Federation and its governing bodies.”
Statement of intent
Finally, the government delegate has expressed a declaration of intent to all mayors and mayors and the new leaders of the Madrid Federation of Municipalities: “In me you will not find insults, nor joke campaigns around them. There will be respect. Nor will you find vetoes or closed doors, but on the contrary, the doors of the Delegation will always be open to the representatives of the people of Madrid, absolutely to everyone. You will always be invited, no matter how many differences we may have a priori."
Award Ceremony for Police and Civil Guard
After the opening session of the Plenary, an act of recognition has been held for the Security Forces and Corps for their work to help the municipalities of the region, in which Francisco Martín has delivered an award to the Civil Guard, which was collected by General José Antonio Berrocal Anaya, head of the First Zone of the Civil Guard, and another award to the National Police that was collected by the Superior Chief of Police of Madrid, Manuel Soto Seoane.
New WMF Governing Board
The 11th plenary session of the Federation of Municipalities of Madrid has elected its new Governing Board for the next four years, which will be chaired by Judith Piquet, Mayor of Alcalá de Henares.
