Staff of the Government Delegation and of the Higher Police Headquarters of Madrid have been in charge of giving the talks
The Government Delegation in Madrid has hosted the celebration of a theoretical/practical day aimed at a group of 80 professionals who attend to foreign women victims of gender violence and their sons and daughters.
The attendees, mostly from the specialized services that make up the integral care network for Gender Violence of the Community of Madrid, have reinforced their preparation from a transversal approach in which different procedures that these women and their descendants may have to carry out have been addressed.
The government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, has welcomed and thanked them for attending a conference that he considers “crucial” to strengthen the comprehensive care for foreign women victims of gender violence, very necessary “for their vulnerability”.
“In many cases, there is greater economic dependence, linguistic and cultural barriers and even administrative barriers in situations of irregular stay. That is why the attention to these women to detect violence is so important,” he said.
Professors specialized in the subject
Staff of the Coordination Unit against Violence against Women and the Aliens Functional Area of the Government Delegation in Madrid, and of the Provincial Brigade of Aliens and Borders of the Superior Police Headquarters of Madrid, have been in charge of giving the talks.
Among other subjects, they have addressed issues related to regulations and casuistry in the processing of residency, obtaining the TIE and the registration card in cases of gender violence, and other related legal procedures.
Organic Law 1/2004
All these issues are related to Organic Law 1/2004, of December 28, on Comprehensive Protection Measures against Gender Violence, which provides protection mechanisms also for these women and their sons and daughters.
Among its guiding principles, it includes promoting the specialization of professional groups involved in the process of information, care and protection of victims, or ensuring the principle of the cross-cutting nature of measures, so that their implementation takes into account the specific needs and demands of all women victims of gender-based violence.
